Don't think Howard Webb deserved to be booed when collecting his medals, I think he did a fine job considering the amount of hard tackles being thrown around.
Perhaps De Jong and Van Bommel deserved reds as well for their harsh challenges.

And you need a glasses! Clown
Biased much?
I was supporting the netherlands but you can't say that they didn't deserve all those cards and perhaps should have had more?
The referee showed great composure by not spoiling the game with early reds for an Bommel and De Jong.
Well, I'm dutch but I'd have agreed with a red card for De Jong actually.. Why would you ever make a foul like that? Stupid ...
But I think Spain deserves the title, even though they had great difficulties with scoring.

It's a shame the game was ruined at the end by a dive (by Iniesta to get Heitinga sent off) and a goal that shouldn't have counted, which was caused by the lack of men at the back due to the wrong red card.
De Jong was lucky not to be sent off, but so were Puyol, Van Bommel and Iniesta (the amount of fouls and dives he got away with!!)
Holland deserved penalties I felt, but I guess Spain did have the best of Extra Time.

Most far fetched excuse of the WC 2010.

You what? It's an excuse that shouldn't even be needed, seeing as Holland should have had a corner moments before rendering it needless. Are you some sort of moron?

Please. Spain outplayed them and was the better team throughout.

They did deserve cards. It's just that the later cards didn't actually seem to have any relationship to what they did at the time. Nor to the players who committed the fouls. Heitinga didn't deserve a red, but de Jong actually did earlier. And the Spanish made some incredibly blatant dives. And how that corner wasn't a corner.
I found that I was more supporting players than the team. And almost all players made dickmoves during the game so there were less and less players who deserved it.
It was an incredibly nasty game, and the ref made some insane calls. I was actually just hoping for PK's at the end because that would've been more fair. Seriously, rather penalties than that sham of a game they put up.

I agree with this - awful game, with a ref who couldn't control it (but wasn't helped by the players!)

Umm... where did I say Spain weren't the better side? In fact:
Pander88uk wrote:Holland deserved penalties I felt, but I guess Spain did have the best of Extra Time.
Spain had more possession, and a lot of chances in Extra Time. Holland had the best chances in normal time. This is not the point I was making... read what you're commenting before replying in future please. It prevents you looking like an idiot.

Spain sucked just as hard. Iniesta made a good goal, but otherwise how they played was utter shit.
This was a shit ref. And, like, I don't even mean that the Netherlands should've won. It's just that the ref made the game pointless by carding for shit that didn't deserve a card while not carding what deserved a card. Football only works when the ref is consistent, and he wasn't.

In defence of the ref, the players acting like they did made it very hard for him. But yes, he had a poor game. Very poor. Just like every other ref in the tourny he let players get away with diving, and yes, wasn't consistent.

True, the players basically made it so. Still, I got the feeling it was basically whatever the ref did that deciced the game. Over the game I really started to lean towards the idea that we should just have video-reviews. The whole WC was enough evidence enough that things should change, but seeing that the final suffered even worse from bad calls proved that it needs to change. I don't know how they could actually do it, but at least try it instead of claiming it tarnishes the spirt of the game when the game has changed so much.
The more stakes are put on players, the more they want to cheat.
