add a Political forum.

Post by 2dimes »

American political forum.

A forum for all the American Political stuff:

I think this may help the off topics forum to trend towards more freindly chatter:
  • a place for all the "don't build that religious center here.
  • lighten up the off topics forum
  • could be a world politics with a American sub forum attatched

Nawh, I don't think it's worth it. There's too much clutter as is, (since this would surely be a subforum under bumpage right?)

How could this be a bad idea? Don't you realize that this idea would help make it easier for everyone (including me) to figure out where the "fun centers" are? Besides, there are people that go there for things that are not quite political, like SPAMALOT or something else absurd. Some of them shouldn't see the political threads, since the sight of those threads turn them into angry little trolls  .

EDIT:

epic mispellings corrected.

Good idea.

Keep all the angst in one 1 sub forum, and as a bonus it will voluntarily seclude some of the more outspoken belligerents.

That, and it would be nice to sort out the topics a bit. 50% seem to be politically based, with the rest ranging from mildly entertaining (A new cleavage every 5 min...) to fucking stupid. (bedub1)

This shouldn't be too much work to program, and since most political posts are heated and need more policing than others would it not make sense to put all the mods work into one basket so to speak?

Regards,

If there was a political sub forum, I'd be a hell of a lot happier.

A Political Sub-Forum is just flame wars by a different name...

its a good idea really...Im not sure what bumpage will include after that, "much ado about nothing" again I suppose but I cant imagine theres any downside to this, and one more forum wont matter at all. It will effectively end any complaints of political posts, since one can ignore all of them in one sitting.

Of course, someone can do that as it is, so...

Not really. If you arent interested in political threads, than you must still see them and weed them out as you read the titles of bumpage. By ignore, I mean ignore the titles, not the threads, so...

I'm not sure "flame wars" is appropriate, since what you are describing is what "politics" has been when people have bad arguments since the dawn of civilization. BUT, you have a damn straight point, and so to make everyone happy, if should be put in "bumpage" so that people who do "political flaming", if you will, will put it in the forum that people expect all flaming to be in :D! Besides, it would be a political statement in itself to leave out a forum for such to impede expression of opinions... whoops! I know what kind of comment is going to quote this LOL!

Why just an American political forum? What about other countries? For example, I'd like to see a Columbian political forum. What about Ghana? Their recent World Cup success must have had a positive influence on their economy.

A Politics Subforum

Post by GreecePwns »

Concise description:
  • The creation of a new subforum specifically for politics

Specifics/Details:
  • Any discussion of politics in the current Schrodinger's Catbox would be moved there
  • Current political threads which have not been posted in for 6 months old would be moved there, while all others are probably not going to be posted in again. And if they are posted in again, the mods will just move it over to the new subforum

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • A lot of people looking to post in the off-topics area are put off by the dominating theme of political threads, keeping them from contributing to the great community we have here. We did this for Forum Games, and even created a special subforum just for Mafia, so why not do the same for politics? Those who want to post in political threads win by getting a straight link to all of them, while those who just want to talk about other things can without having to sift through all the politics.
