Now that we got that out of the way, what is it? I'm not talking about two people falling in love or lust, i'm talking about a social phenomenon that i've noticed increasing in the past 20 years or so - even in rural Mississippi. I'm talking about young (mostly) white chicks that don't just mess around with a black dude or two, but have a marked preference for such over white dudes. I don't see young black chicks going after white dudes in the same fashion.

When my hero, Jack Johnson was asked this he gave what i believe to be the best answer - any other Smilin' Jack fans out there that are familiar with the quote?

Anyhow, i think it could be interesting to hear some theories and/or pertinent info on the subject.

I would agree that this is a major reason initially, but it doesn't adequately explain subsequent encounters.

When i worked as a counselor in an "alternative" school for kids with various charges against them i posed the question to a number of the young ladies there. I had a good rapport with the kids so they were pretty open and honest in their responses. The main reason i got was that the black boys were more mature mentally and emotionally then the white boys. They were also more experienced than the white boys - keep in mind that most of the white kids at the school came from lower class neighborhoods that were comparable to the black ones. These weren't middle or upper class white kids from Beaver Cleaver neighborhoods. After the girls told me this i observed the behavior of the black boys vs the white boys and found myself agreeing with the girls as to the general level of maturity.

The black boys evidently treated their girlfriends with more understanding and sensitivity than the white boys. This surprised me as i hadn't found this to be as true of the way they treated their black girlfriends during my work in the ghettos. I'd love to do an in depth study on the subject - a lot of interesting variables to deal with.

I don't have to worry about cheating on my wife cause whenever there's a white girl who checks me out she just gives them a look and they back off. Trust me, you guys would never want to piss off a black woman who's been cheated on.

I was sitting outside on a porch stoop in one of the black neighborhoods i worked in one day talking to one of the kids we worked with - a little black girl about 6 yrs old. She was a real sweet kid and everyone loved her. I'd never seen her act maliciously in any way with the other kids and she was quiet and nonaggressive in her general behavior.

While we were sitting there another one of the kids - a boy of about 11 - rode up on his bicycle and joined us. We'd been sitting there talking for a while when i noticed a bigass scar on his forearm about 6 or 7 inches long and about 1/4 inch wide. I pointed at it and asked him what happened to his arm. He nodded at the little girl and in a casual, offhanded tone said "she cut me". I looked at the little girl in disbelief and she calmly, unashamedly nodded her head. I asked her why and she said "he was teasing me". I looked back at the boy and he nodded as if to say he had it coming. Then the little girl said "and i'd do it again". When she said that i looked back at the boy and he nodded.

I was very careful how i joked around with her after that.

I would suspect it has a lot of similarity to the reason why girls like bad boys. Becuase it's "dirty" (or at least they can make it seem dirty in their minds).
