you are quite right.. The author retains copyright on their work, and gives Conquer Club permission to use the imagery free of charge, for as long as Conquer Club sees fit on the Conquer Club website. Conquer Club cannot sell, lease, or lend the right to use the images to anyone else. The author swears that their map is their own work, or a legal derivative work and by submitting it, do hereby claim all responsibility for that being true.
either it should be that CC has a licence or it should be sold online
i do not know the volume of sales but something like 50 cents from each sale would add up and could be put towards a premium membership for themselves or given as gifts or prizes.

The CC shop is not on the CC website, It sells it's wares on a third party provider hence the "free of charge" portion of the contract does not apply. Give them a cut!
i understand maps can be used by CC anyway they like but it would be nice if you had a map that sold x amount of t-shirts then you got something (not cash) like a membership or a discount on a membership

All of the maps currently in the shop, are there because when we had a Shopkeeper (Widowmakers), he obtained permission from the copyright holders of those maps to allow them to be put into our shop.

This about sums it up.. Is there an issue with integrity here at CC ? .. So if there is no "cut" or better yet profit share for the developer , than CC is commiting which crime ?

none actually, since if the owners of the work agreed to it being sold, as was told by andy than all is as it should be. Personally i feel CC was a way to lenient position and all that would be submitted should be property of cc, but hey, i got no say in this. Its management that makes the call, and they rightfully do not listen to me.

Classic.... Without the community/developers of such fine gaming material CC would not be what it is today. I also believe that no person in there right mind would give something away for free . I also believe that whoever puts there name on graphic work has 100 percent rights to the map regardless of community input. So with that being said whatever goes on between said developer and CC is strictly between them. Business is Business and i am sure if something was lucrative enough to invest in then any said developer could strike a deal for the rights of use.. But in the end the original question was legitimate and also none of our business unless of course there have been missteps

That's the second most horrible idea I've ever heard (right after the one about selling the site to hasbro.) I wouldn't make any maps on this site if they required me to sign off any rights to the artwork. I'm sure quite a lot of mapmakers would agree with me.
Do you have any idea how much time and effort is spent on every single map - by people who do it mainly for the love of the game and for the site? The average time to create just one map varies between 6 to 12 months. Who in their right mind would spend that much time and effort on artwork and then just give away any and all rights to it?
well you are quite right ofcourse, but from a business point of view its not uncommon. Hell, i think the current system shows the true colours of CC, for and by the players.
