My kids went back to school yesterday, having had monday as a holiday for Labor Day.
After a long and hectic week, they have thursday and friday off for Rosh Hassanah.

Good that gets you some time to get less angry about your guests.

sorry lone it really is NFL is a lot more exciting. The reason is simple for your the games you win matter! Now this is the same reason why i hate baseball every game does not matter cause you play so many. now collage is not that way but even if you win all your games you still might not be in the best bowl! It is completely decided by a select of people who pick the best of the best. Behind the scenes. Now NFL is straight forward you show up every week you lose tough luck you only get one chance and only those you have the best record get to the playoffs and then no matter how good you are u still have to win the game. Its that simple the NFL is exciting for all those reason each game played matters, there is only ONE SUPER BOWL!!!! not like in collage with a lot bowls

My dad is from Rhode Island where he got his first degree. After retiring from the Air Force he got his fifth degree (a doctorate) from UGA in the 70's. I had a UGA jersey and helmet before I was old enough to know what football is. I think I got that helmet for Christmas when I was 3 years old in 1974. It's fun to put it on my son who is almost 2 now. I have some old video of me wearing the helmet and jersey while my dad teaches me how to hike a football.

The Bowl system does suck in college but the atmosphere is still the same...Though I always knew that the college football fever isn't really a big thing in your area. Here and in other parts of the country. We have College football. We have the rivalries and I can tell you that none of the rivalries in professional football have the same flavor and those come with bragging rights. FLorida could win the national championship but if they lost to Georgia, Georgia still has the bragging rights.

Most of my family graduated from UGA and some others graduated from a different college but with a UGA degree. I am planning on transferring there myself at the end of this semester.

NFL is all about money. About the only rivalry I have heard of that actually rivals those in college ball, are the Vikings and Packers. Outside of that, meh. I can't really argue about the Bowls, as the BCS sucks in that way, but college ball is about the rivalries, not the money (well, until the BCS screws it over) which makes college football tops for me. Plus, the only regional NFL team is the Denver Donkeys.

Not often do I find myself ever excited to watch an NFL game, before it is on. Don't get me wrong, if it is on, and I am not busy, I'll certainly watch any game since I like the sport.

But with College Football, there are so many interesting match-ups and stories that make me want to mark 'em down in my mental-banana-planner, so I don't miss the action.

Do you think the extension to a possible 18 game schedule is not about the money, Targetman? ;) **Munches on a money-banana**. The NFL is a business.

So is College Football. It's just that for my personal tastes, College Football offers a product that I most want.

And how much are players paid to play in college? Nothing. If lucky, they will recieve a scholarship for a free education, but they have to retain a certain grade point average if they want to play, or else they ride the bench. They play in college because they love to play football. Those that go on to play in the NFL, some may play for the love of the game, but others DEMAND multi-million dollar contracts before they step onto the field.

Yes, the athletic departments want more money, but that is to upgrade the facilities to the highest point possible. And coaching teams takes a lot of time, plus recruiting, so that the teams will be the best as they can be.

Coaches are paid a fixed amount, and when they beat a rival, go to a bowl game, the what not, they are paid extra for it. Otherwise, what would be the point of even trying?

No kidding. They just want to play football while they can. NFL, it becomes about the money for most.

I thought I just said that the colleges make money? They need to in order to improve their athletic facilities to be the best that they can be so that the student athletes can perform to the best of their abilities.

Coaches recieve incentives? Really? I could have SWORN I already posted that.

What I'm talking about are the athletes. Those star players in the NFL only seem to care about the money. The star players in college, well, let's see how much they are paid, oh wait, they're NOT. A great many of them don't even get scholarships, but have to walk on, but they do so because they love the game, not the money. READ what I wrote target, read it.

yes the atheleats do not get paid but everything around them does. therefor the coaches push harder and in the end who wins is based on you gets the most money. The kids might not get paid but they still have to thinking trying for the nfl
