How are points awarded

Post by Intercontinental »

hi, apologies if this has been asked before.

I read the part about how points are awarded after a game (At the end of each game, the winner takes points away from each loser. The points to be awarded is calculated as (loser's score / winner's score) * 20, up to a maximum of 100 points from each opponent.)

but I was wondering what it means to 'take points away from each loser'. If I eliminate other players in the game is my score higher for elimiating them in a non-Terminator style game? Is there degrees of how much you can take from a player based on things like how many rounds the game goes (the longer the game the fewer the points)? It seems that losing players lose less points the earlier they go out, is this true?

Just curious about the details,

thanks

No, the amount of points you gain/lose has nothing to do with the length of the game. It is entirely dependent on your current score (and in team games, an average of your team's score).
As for terminator games, the point calculation is the same. It is just that you get points for players you eliminate. Here's an example to point out the difference between terminator and standard/assassin:
Consider a 3 player Standard Game with player A (1600 points), player B (1800 points) and player C (2000 points):
Player A had some "negative experience" with Player C before because they kept accusing each other of conducting secret diplomacy in a previous game (though they have not foed each other yet), so he decides to eliminate him as a priority.
Player B takes the opportunity of Player A being weakened (from taking out Player C)and eliminates him. Player B wins the game.
Player B would then gain a total of 40 points from the two players as (1600/1800)*20=18 points from Player A and (2000/1800)*20=22 points from Player C adds up to 40 points.
If they were instead to play a terminator game, and the same scenario occurred with Player B winning, the calculation is the same:
Player A would gain 25 points from eliminating Player C (2000/1600)*20, before getting eliminated by Player B, his score would stand at 1625.
Player B would gain 18 points from eliminating Player B (1625/1800)*20.

this could be due to the fact that the less good players are killed of first... less skill = less points in most cases.

Thanks for the replies. So the points "on the table" when each game starts are the rankings that the players bring in with them?

One other related question: Does this mean that you get more points for eliminating someone of a higher ranking in a terminator style game? I.e. a lieutenant is worth more than a cook?

1.As for the your reference to "points on the table", that is not taken into account for the score. What I mean is you could have 1600 points when you begin the game, but because you won and lost other games as well, your score might be changed to 1700 before your one game ends. The score that is taken into account is the score you have when a winner is determined (for non-terminator) or when you are eliminated (for terminator games).

2.It does not only apply to terminator games because all games you win will reward more points if you win against someone who is higher ranked.

Thanks Joodoo, I think I get it now. But the 1600 points that you mentioned is your rating and not an arbitrary number that you get for entering the game? I know it says that you initially get 1000 points but I think that refers to when you first start at CC and not each time, is that right?

Sorry if I am a bit slow on this :|

If you click on your username it'll take you to a page that shows your current point total. The calculation that determines how many points you lose is (1) done at the end of the entire game if standard or (2) done when you are eliminated in a terminator game. This means in a standard game you could enter with 1,000 points, be eliminated when your score is 2,000 but not have the game finish until you have 5,000 points and the relevant number where the score transfer is calculated from is the 5,000 point total.

yes.
this is a boon for some higher ranked players who feel they are targeted not because they are /were weak but only because of their points. However, your assumption is quite correct. a lt will net you more points then a cook

Ok; I get the math but let me run it again in case I am mistaken ok; And then I will ask my question.

points = loser's total score divided by winner's total score and then multiplied by 20

For example:
Player A has 100 pts. [lower rank]
Player B has 200 pts. [higher rank]

scenario 1
Player A wins: [lower rank wins]
Formula = loser's score (200) divided winner's score (100) multiplied by 20

200 divided by 100 = 2. And 2 x 20 = 40 pts earned by Player A

Player A has now a score of 140 pts because he won.
Player B shall have 160 pts because he lost.

But if the reverse occurs and the higher ranking player wins, then it is 100 (The Lower Ranking player and loser of that game) divided by 200 (The higher ranking player and winner of that game) which equals .5 and when you multiply that .5 by 20 you get 10 points awarded to the winner, the higher ranking player of 200 points.

I hope that I got that right and that my understanding is correct. My question is why this formula for points? would it not be easier to simply do like in Poker and anti up to enter the game? Say 10 points to enter the game and who ever wins gets the whole pot? Then when and if you lose all your points you simply do like a restart and perhaps even change your name as one's account could then be deleted as well. I don't know for certain if that is best or why, I am simply asking.

I would simply like to understand the logic behind the formula. Thats all and with all respects intended.

Thankfully:

Viceroy, your math is correct.

The logic behind the math is that you get more points for beating someone better than you and less points for beating someone worse than you. This is done to prevent farming and to give a more accurate account of ranks. If you have the same winning percentage as someone else, but you play all Colonels and they play all cooks, who is the better player? You are, because you are going up against the better competition. That's why you're getting more points.

OK; I think that I understand the logic. The better player should win more games and keep his/her ranking and not be like stealing candy from a baby. Right? OK, But also, has anyone ever considered like levels? Where only from this rank to that rank can play each other and when you move on from one ranking zone to a higher one you play only on that level? Like a General will never be able to play a private. A General can only play with Generals, and like that? After all a person with that much experience in the game should always be able to beat a newbie, right?

One thing that goes through my mind is that if there are some with thousands of points then doesn't that mean that there are those with perhaps less then 100 points? Or maybe even Zero points? How would that math formula work if, hypothetically speaking, if a person with 10,000 points played some one with zero points? Hypothetical situation.

Also can you explain that "Farming" phrase more clearly. What is Farming? Exactly?

Not that I would break any rules but is there a rule that explains that?

And thank you for taking the time to explain all this to me.

first paragraph is a suggestion. It has been thought up before. Up to now it has not found its way into the game.

second is your hypothetical question. It has been solved, so that nobody can go below 1 point, and the max you can win per player is 100 points in a game, so 8 player max 100 each = 800. There is this guy who used to win a battle royale (regular style) and he because conqueror overnight. Did not last long, and since then all battle royales have been terminator, so if you win, you still gain less and less points from it.

Farming, I suggest you read the community guidelines again, but in short farming means you play against those with a ? mark behind their names. those players with only a few games. Taking then to complicated maps is unfair. Other then that, it is duckhunting all you like. Some will grumble, but it is legalisch.

ah: read here for the general rules: http://www.conquerclub.com/public.php?mode=rules
Unwritten Rules

Obviously any gross abuse of the game is forbidden. This includes but is not limited to: throwing games or deliberately benefiting from thrown games, intentional deadbeating, holding players hostage, serial teammate killing, hijacking accounts, systematically "farming" new recruits.
unwriten, sort of, but it give you enough handle to go by.

and np, glad to help if possible

Lol. In Spanish "Thota" is slang for "Pussy," and I am not talking about a pussy cat neither. Lol.

Yeah I read the unwritten rules and it only mentions the word "Farming" I still don't understand how it is done though? Maybe it is better that way but if some one is farming me or if I see a farming in progress, how would I even know how to report it or much less where to report it. It would be like I was looking the other way seeing a woman being raped and keep on walking because I don't know if that is something that people do all the time in CC town. Anyway; I will eventually figure it out after I see a few rapings and screamings and Farmings. I guess.

Perhaps right there in the unwritten rules section next to the word "Farming" they should place a brief discription of what that implies exactly and precisely and what to do if one sees that in progress or if it happens to them/us.

is says
systematically "farming" new recruits
so this applies to new requites (NR) who have an (?) behind their rank ONLY. Don't worry, everybody will be trying to farm your points, and you can do with all those who are placed higher then you... have a nice day

I'm not sure if anyone answered you or not, but the max points you can lose from one person in a game is 100.
