Rookie question about game chat note to self

Rookie question here...

Can opponents see something entered as a note to self in the game chat? I want to use that to keep track of strategy notes per game -- I assume that's what it's for.

correct. in ALL games where you play in and are not teamgames, you can use note to self to keep your own notes invisible from everybody else.
in teamgames, you can communicate with your teammates without the other team knowing it
in games where you are not playing in the note to self does not work..

You can also use it to keep notes just incase you have to go away and want your account sitter to see whats going on.Apparently its handy for shopping list and such too lol

Thanks. I was wondering because I posted a note to myself with strategy notes and one of the other players posted something referring to me right after that. Coincidence I guess.

unless it was a game where you were not a player(cause then everybody gets to see it), otherwise yes coincidence
