Q: What is a ‘relentless’ tournament?

A: It is for relentless players – you get just 14 hours to take your turn.

If you take any longer than that more than once in any individual match (or miss a turn just once), then you lose the match (if you do win then the winner will be the player with most troops remaining). Simple!

It is up to players to report infractions to the Tournament Organiser.
The idea is that we have a very fast tournament.

The Setting
You are a secret agent for a Confederalist Coalition group, planning to take over the EU and sieze economic and political power.

Along with a number of other special agents you are charged to undertake a number of missions to assassinate politicians and key figures from independantist groups.

Recent economic turmoil has led to independantist groups asserting their power to a greater extent, ignoring EU law and drawing away from confederalism.

These groups have set-up their own espionnage and counter-espionnage agencies. It is your job to seek out and destroy these agents before they incur further damage against confederalism.

Targets must be eliminated at all haste, before Burlesconi's deals and negotiations begin to undermime the EU ...

The tournament will involve an 'evolving storyline' format. Mission details will be sent to agents by secret message systems to avoid counter-espionnage.

This tournament is open to all players with a decent attendance record. Freemiums beware - there will be 2-games-at-a-time.

The Evolving Storyline:
Image

As you return to your hotel room, a guy bumps into you accidentally on the stairs.

You think nothing of it, but when you get into your room and take your jacket off, you find a note in the inside pocket:

"Agent, you have performed well so far.

Details of the whereabouts of further of our adversaries' agents will be forwarded to you in due course. Keep checking your pockets.

And once you receive the details act quickly, we must stop these agents before they destroy the confederacy."

You keep your eyes peeled for further people bumping into you ...
Details:
Initial Phase:
Sixteen agents undertake four missions to eliminate independantist agents. All successful agents will remain in employment.

Each mission will involve a match of 4 players. Players will not play one another often as games will be randomly allocated.

If an odd number of players qualify then the criteria below will be used (in relation to remaining players) to determine an additional qualifier.

If less then 8 players qualify then the criteria below (in relation to remaining players) will be used to determine qualifiers.

If more then 12 players qualify then the criteria below (in relation to all players) will be used to determine qualifiers.

Criteria
Number of succesful missions.
Number of rounds in which missions completed (inversely ranked).
Number of troops surviving in missions completed.
Number of rounds survived in incomplete missions (where not eliminated).
Number of surviving troops in incomplete missions.

Phase II:
Eight to twelve agents undertake four missions to eliminate independantist agents. All successful agents will remain in employment.

Each mission will involve half of the qualified agents. Players will not play one another often as games will be randomly allocated.

If less then 4 players qualify then the criteria above (in relation to remaining players) will be used to determine qualifiers.

If more then 6 players qualify then the criteria above (in relation to all players) will be used to determine qualifiers.

Final Phase:
Four to six successful agents players will undertake three highly crucial missions to assassinate key members of the independantist espionnage group.

Each mission will involve all qualified agents.

Any candidate successful in two or more missions will achieve significant recognition with the movement.

Otherwise, the three successful candidates will undertake one final mission, with the winner achieving significant recognition with the movement.
Match Options
Maps will not be announced in advance to avoid counter-espionnage.

Games will be Assassin and Sequential, with Flat Rate Spoils, Adjacent Reinforcements and Fog of War (given the top secret nature of spy networks).
Players
There will be 16 players.

Players must have a 97% attendance record, have played a minimum 25 matches, and not have dropped out from one of my tournaments previously!

Players will have 24 hours to join their matches from when the joining PM is sent. Failure to do so will result in a reserve being sought (harsh, I know).
Reserves
All reserves will be sent a PM when an opening occurs. The first reserve to respond will gain a place.

For the first phase, reserves will be drawn from the reserve list.

For the second phase, reserves will be drawn eliminated agents in the first phase.

In the final stage, reserves will not be sought. If players are missing then games will take place with one fewer player than planned.
Joining Matches
Players will be informed when they have a match and will have 24 hours to join. If they fail to do so then they will be ejected from the tournament and a reserve will replace them.
Partnerships / Regular opponents
Players must inform the tournament organiser if they have a regular partner or opponent that is also featuring in the tournament. The organizer can then ensure these players do not play together to avoid any potential claims of foul play by other players.

If reports of suspected foul play are made and the players in question have not declared that they are regular partners / opponents then they will be both be ejected from the tournament without question or the need for irrefutable evidence.
[game]7955736[/game]. 2 missed turns from green. Going for the relentless thing I rather see him out. I quess I can forgive people if they once miss the 14 hour mark. But not missing 2 turns.
