Here, I made this texture for you. Use it if you want, no biggie if you don't... I think it would fit well with the fractured theme.

Okay a long awaited update!

A list of changes, most of which ian suggested with a couple myself.

There's still a few things I have to do like change the bonus colors in the legend and such (yes natty this includes the grunge background). ;)

Make sure that the bonus colors match up, and if nobody else expresses any concerns within the next couple of days I'll stamp this sucker.

Looks nice. I like the colours! Only nitpick: Han looks a bit too similar to the sea colour... especially on the small. I suggest making Han a bit lighter.

You could also increase the opacity of the texture. More grunge -> more fracturedness... ;)

Ps. What layer mode do you use on textures? Lots of people use multiply, but I find multiply to work poorly on all but the lightest textures - for most textures, I get best results with either soft light or grain merge, sometimes hard light works too (depending on how strong I want the texture...)

This is a nitpick that's more related to the Graphics bit of things, but the large version's lines look very fuzzy comparative to the small version's. I assume the sea route and the trees will be getting revamps when this map moves over a forum, but the gameplay looks just fine to me.

One very minor spelling mistake....on the Tibet bonuses, one terit is named a Prefecture, two others are Prefacture...I'm assuming those are just typos, but just wanted to let you know. Other than that, this looks amazing, and I cannot wait to play this map! :D

Ack... the trees. Not a fan. Furthermore... are there pine trees in those areas as you depicted? I was presuming more rainforest trees. But yeah, the problem with the trees are that they don't contrast with the map enough to stand out as an impassable. I suggest using a far more muted tone of green.

Yea I know about those trees. Where the ones previous a little better or should I go to the drawing board so to speak and do new ones?

Must be your eyes! I'll take a real close look at them later. Concerning the sea route, how would you like to see it?

Easy enough to correct.

Concerning Han and the sea color, it should be okay once I get the texture in there and darkened a bit, but when I 'm done with the texture I'll do a color blind test just to make sure. Yes I'm working on the background grunge, trying different modes and so forth to get that good look.

What's your reasoning behind the name changes?

The reasoning is because I can!

No really, there are 3 name changes, one being more of an ehtnic one, one Nam Vet is the old empire name, and I liked Wu better than Chu (sounds more like I missed the ah in the ah chu).

They do have the same color, see! If you look at my Fractured America map you'll see the rivers are the same way here which is what I want. I want the same style and feel for both maps since they are related so to speak.

Okay here are a couple of changes;

1) Swapped out the colors for Nam Vet and Han
2) Redid the trees - hopefully they look a little better
3) Redid the arrows a bit

So here is the new version:
