A little treat to all you Rail-loving men and women out there
I will be accepting 16 players to this tournament and another 2-3 reserves.
The idea of the tournament is simple; - excel your opponents on your favourite maps and prove your metal on theirs.
Note:I will accept freemiums since it is possible for them to play as long as three slots are held open, although I do not advise them to join. I can also deny players if I consider their attendance too low.
The tournament will be divided into 4 groups of 4. Each player will meet each opponent in his/her group once. That is three matches per player in the group stages. There will be different rail maps to play on in these matches; - one will be your home court (favourite), which you post in the thread below, on will be your opponents favourite and the last will be randomly selected with the help of random.org and will not be one of the home court matches (favourites) in your group.
Considered allowed Rail Maps for this tournament:
Rail Africa
Rail Australia
Rail Europe
Rail USA
Orient Express 1883
Indian Empire
NYC
If there are other maps with the presence of rails that become available after the announcement of this tournament or maps I have forgot to list, please add them to be your home court should you wish although I have the option to deny them for whatever reason so please add a secondary home court just in case.
Standard Setup (will be used mainly for random maps):
Standard
Automatic
Sequential
Flat Rate (will be changed to home court preferences if both players have the same prefferences to their home courts)
Chained (same here)
No (same)
Casual
When picking your home court you may also choose preffered reinforcements, fog of war and spoils.
Every game has a 30 round cap because of the allowance of no spoils. The winner would then be the one with the most territories/regions at the end of round 30.
Group Stage:
Every win is considered worth 3 points. The two best of each group will advance to the final stages. There they will be seeded so that Group Winners meet Group Runner-ups. If there is a tie in points between two players on the amount of points it will be decided on internal affairs (who won between them). If three players are tied with the same amount of points the winner will be decided by bonus points (1 point per game won when not starting). If still tied, I will find an alternate way of deciding depending on what I find the most fair solution (could involve rematches, or who used fewest rounds or by random.org).
Final Stages:
There will be a quarter-, semi- and a final. Each leg will involve three matches (except the final). One match on each players home court and one randomly selected. In the final, however, there will be the option of adding a second home court. So the final will consist of 5 matches. If another home court is not selected, a random one will be selected instead using standard map setup (mentioned above).
It's not very complicated. If the rules seem complex, just make sure to win all your matches and you'll be fine
