Overview

This is the second edition of my Cosa Nostra Tournament. For the first, see here: viewtopic.php?t=89325

The tournament will consist of 4 rounds of automatic, sequential, terminator, escalating, chained, sunny games and one final round which is standard and flat. Player elimination varies round to round, please see detailed description before for more info. Freemiums welcome as long as they keep 1 game slot open. Players will have 48 hours to join their games after invitations have been sent out.

Background

It's been nearly 20 years since Don "ghirrindin" Monaco became Capo di tutti Capi, successfully leading his Chicago mafia family in a ruthless war against the Bonacusso family in New York. Since then his power base has extended greatly, encompassing not only the old turf in Chicago but also that of his former rivals in New York. Being the top dog in organized crime gave the Monaco family a distinct edge in securing control of the emerging casino capital of Las Vegas. As a result, the family's coffers are overflowing with wealth and no one dares challenge the Don's authority. However, the Don is getting old and soon the reigns of power will pass on to another. Don Monaco has chosen his son, "ghirrindin" (Jr.), as his successor, but his word is good only as long as he's still breathing. Could you be the next Don? Prove that you've got what it takes to be both a ruthless enforcer and a steady earner for the family and maybe it'll be you calling the shots...

Structure

Round 1
The tournament will start with 24 outsiders vying for a place in the Monaco family. Make a name for yourself on the streets of Chicago and maybe you'll be given a chance to prove yourself.

4 teams of 6 players each
1 game per team
Prohibition Chicago
terminator
escalating
chained
sunny

First 2 players eliminated from each game stay outsiders (8 total). Remainder (16 total) are welcomed as associates in the Monaco family and advance to round 2.

Round 2
Don Monaco's perceived weakness has led some of the lesser families in New York to challenge Chicago's authority. Head over there and "convince" them to reconsider their loyalty to the Monaco family by any means necessary.

2 teams of 8 players each
1 game per team
NYC
terminator
escalating
chained
sunny

First 3 players eliminated from each game stay associates (6 total). Remainder (10 total) become Made Men in the Monaco family and advance to round 3.

Round 3
The feds are targeting family casinos and businessmen in Vegas. Travel to the West and and find a way to divert their attention away from Monaco interests and onto the real criminals, namely our rivals...

2 teams of 5 players each
1 game per team
USA West
terminator
escalating
chained
sunny

First 3 players eliminated from each game stay soldiers (6 total). Remainder (4 total) get to run their own crews as Capos and advance to round 4.

Round 4
The Don's health is fading. Now's the time to show everyone that you're not just tough and smart, but you can also lead.

1 team of 4 players
3 games (1 on Prohibition Chicago, 1 on NYC, 1 on USA West)
terminator
escalating
chained
sunny

In each game players receive 0 points for being eliminated first, 1 for being eliminated second, 2 for third, and 3 for winning a game. Two players with the lowest points at the end of the round remain Capos. Two highest scoring players advance to the position of Underboss and vie for control of the family.

Scores for the round were as follows:

skepticcs - 7
tycho73 - 6
ryall55 - 3
donkeylove - 2

Round 5-Final
The Don is dead. You have proven that you've got what it takes to run this family, but you're not the only one. Dispose of your rival and make yourself a Don!

1v1
best of 3 on Prohibition Chicago
standard
flat
chained
sunny

Loser stays and Underboss. Winner becomes Don!
