Ticket to ride

Post by grifftron »

I was just taught this game the other night and thought it would make an interesting map (along with every other map i see of course). I might look more into it if there is some interest, the bonuses could be amazing i think, tons of bonuses, tons of fun.

of course if I ever was going to do it i would change name of the map and look into diff cities so we wouldn't have to worry about our best friend copy right.

I've played this game before, the bonuses in the game its self come from connecting 2 cities by owning all the rails between. Intresting idea, since there are 2 sets of rails between some cities. It would require a lot of looking at your map and coding though, to find every possible route you could own between 2 cities though.

How would this be different from Rail Europe?

You're right, it would be extremely similar to Rail Europe. However, in Ticket To Ride there is not a fixed route between 2 cities, you can own ANY route between 2 cities. And there are some special "Tunnel" links and "Ferry" links that have their own respective elements in the game.

I have to agree that it would be too similar to Rail Europe though.

Of course it reminds you of Rail Europe, your a 1 bar, what doesn't remind you of rail Europe, we gotta think outside the box not inside my friend!... that was mean, i still love you sully.

1. Hell of a lot less confusing with the way the map would be laid out, get ride of those nasty boxes like in rail europe.

2. No huge paris train station, this one would just be an all lout war around paris itself.

3. Look at all of the different colors and bonus structures that could be thought up, we could have neutrals, killer neutrals, extra bonuses for holding longer train routes and whatever else could be thought of, you really would almost have to play the game to understand how this could kind of work since I have not figured out a gameplay yet, just tossing around ideas...

4. around the map there is a point structure for the game itself (how the score is kept). Those could be used as extra territories, or they could just be cut out all together, but that would add more difference between the 2 maps.

But overall looking at the 2 maps, this one would be a lot easier to play for those that get confused easier, i still have troubles playing rail europe unless i sit and stair at it for a while. This map would be different from rail europe as light as from day, or as doodle earth is from classic, or as sully is from natty.
