All I'm getting for my dad this year is a phone call.

Don't worry, I'm following the golden rule. I don't want anything for father's day when I become a dad either.

Happy father's Day to all your dads out there!
I declare that the "father's rights" thread be put to rest for today in honor of the day.

My dad is taking it easy today. Staying at home watching movies (probably Star Trek) and what not. Sounds relaxing.

Indeed, Happy Fathers' Day to each and every family patriarch out there!

I know that my father had an enjoyable day. Watched a portion of the NASCAR race and puttered about. :)

lol... my son (10) decided he wanted us to go out for ribs (a father's day special at what passes for a local steakhouse). My husband was not that enthusiastic, but my son insisted, so...

Anyway, long story short, the food was great, not terribly expensive. Fishing with the boys afterward made a good day for him, I believe.

I never understood why people find fishing fun. It's so incredibly boring.

lol... my words, exactly (for me, it something to eat, not really "fun") . My son and husband love it, though. My son has been fly fishing, on his own since he was 5.

Living where I live (Northwestern Ontario) fishing and hunting are huge deals. I have never been a fan of either. Hunting for sport seems a waste to me. And fishing is just boring. The best part of fishing is the beer...and I can do that on shore.

Especially now that drunken boating is being prosecuted as much as drunk driving.

me and the husband looooooooove fishing. we don't do it a lot, usually when on vacation. but we love getting up early for 4 hours out in the Atlantic Ocean and some bass that we can grill hours after catching. we're city slickers, and this is the one outdoorsy thing we really enjoy and look forward to.

next father's day I should totally take my guy fishing, thanks for the idea y'all!
