I enjoy flavouring my speech with words I don't hear often here, but one I have never mastered is whilst. Who uses this word? Are you experiencing enjoyment using it? Sorry, to clarify, I don't think there's anything to be ashamed of using whilst. My intent was to initiate a light and pleasant thread on lexicon.

I regret if my message was so construed or if there's a back-story to the word of which I'm unaware. I thought my positive support of the word in my original message should have waylaid any jerking of knees that might result but I suppose I didn't calculate for every variable.

I believe diversity of tongue is wonderful and lament the homogenization of language. I say I presume Pedro uses whilst in the same way I might say I presume Pedro has two arms. It was intended as a neutral statement.

Again, I'm sorry I was not aware if there was a backstory to this word that somehow implicates those who use it. I have edited my original post to remove Pedronicus' name. Owing to a minor legal misunderstanding, I have not been to the UK or EU since 1991 and I was not aware discussion of this conjunction had become an offensive topic.
