Because when I rescued the tournament, Round 1 was over already. I then had 7 players who decided not to return to the tournament, so I brought in a new batch of replacements. Instead of arbitrarily assigning each of the new players to an old player's score, I started them out at the same level. Looking back, it may have made more sense to start them at 1 point instead of 0, but I don't know that I can go back and change that now.
i dont see why u could not do that, it seems unfair to people who took over to not have the pts from the player he took over.... Or give 3 pts (average pts by game (22/3= 3,xxxx) would be more fair. Its gonna be hard for someone who took over to make it to the championship with the pts who carry over to round 2
It was a tough decision to make, bringing in 7 replacements at once. In hindsight, I could have (and maybe should have) done it differently, but I did make it known to everyone who came in that they were coming in at a disadvantage.
The 7 new players (including myself) have 5 games instead of 6 to make the top half. We then have 11 games instead of 12 to make the top third. A slight disadvantage, but as you've shown so far, possible to quickly overcome. Once the final 6 are decided, the score resets. It's really only 1 point less than if you would have finished last in the first game.
I don't like the idea of giving everyone the average points, because it seems unfair to those who finished low in the first round to give 3's to a few players who should have had 2's or less. That would be 2-3 more people who actually get a bump in rankings, and you have to overcome.
I'm willing to compromise, and give everyone who missed the first round a score of 1 for the round. This is the minimum that anyone should have come out of the round with. Since it does involve a scoring change, I'll send out a PM, and unless people have a major problem with it, I'll put it in effect before the next round of games.
