The US might not be mentioned because Armageddon comes from a hebrew word meaning 'in the mountain region of Megiddo'. Nowhere near the US, but quite close to the Dead Sea, unsurprisingly.
What I mean is that revelation's use as any kind of prophecy is incredibly subjective. You might be convinced this book means x, another believer might be convinced it means y, another z, etc etc. Then you get the real whackos preaching about the rapture - well that stuff is just funny. A complete invention, a bit like jesus' divinity and the holy trinity.
rev 18 seems to be an anti-capitalist rant. Fair enough. BUt how does that sit with republicanism, the american dream and wealth creation? Seems to me jesus and st john were socialists. So does that mean they were mentally disturbed?

With the US being a world power and Armegeddon being fought in a cataclismic "last battle". I highly doubt the US would just sit back and not be involved. The US not existing explains why they are not mentioned. China is, Russia is and Europe is mentioned but not the US. As for "wacko's preaching the rapture.... it is common to call things "wacko" when there is a lack of understanding of these things. You are right in that many people believe many different thing pertaining to scripture. The Bible says, "It will be sealed until the time of the end" meaning the understanding of the book of Revelation will not be understood by man until the end days. "Store up for yourselves treasures in heaven" The "American dream" will pass away. Nothing on earth means anything apart from God... Your $500,000 income, your fame, your possesions only last a life time..... after this is eternity, which is a lot longer.
THE DEBATE IS OVER...

You sound pretty sure... and yet two sentences later you declare that revelation won't be understood by man until the very end. So how come you managed it?

Beause this IS the end times. And I was told this about Rev. 18 by someone else. It was not my revelation.
