Actually, I think this map is overall fairly straightforward. However, one thing that did take a bit of puzzling out was the nature of the Lee Line vs. the Weather Line- their location is not labeled anywhere on the map proper, and so must be inferred from the dashed line in the legend. I'd recommend just putting "Lee Line" and "Weather Line" in the unused spaces near the top and bottom.

Other than that, really my only premonition of clarity complaints comes from the duplicate names of the ships. But I guess we have history to thank for that :|

As for the update, it looks good, as you say the confusion is not really overwhelming when it comes to ship connections and bombardments.

I'll see if i can move (B) Polyphemus name below it and have those two distinctions next to the stern image.

Confusion in the XML has been overcome with each ship precoded with it's nation
(B) Swiftsure
(F) Swiftsure
(B) Achille
(F) Achille
etc etc.
Each ship will have it's nation code in the xml so that all the british ships will come up together etc.
As for the update, it looks good, as you say the confusion is not really overwhelming when it comes to ship connections and bombardments.

Thanks. There will be those who disagree, but i think once the initial games are done, there could be some fun on this map for those who enjoy a small challenge. :)

Thanks for posting the 3 seperate national fleet images. Having seen the map seperated in that way adds quite a bit of clarity to the map. When I first saw the map it took some time to study it.

Okay, if there are no more concerns on this new gameplay issue, or graphics, then I'll leave this for a few days and see if I can find my lil' blue stamp ...

I just noticed something:
Image
If you notice the subdued symbols seem to go off the "cloth" and into the shadow of the cloth.

I'm sorry :( can you scoot Nelson and "The King's Victory" over to the left a few pixels. You don't need to post this minor change until you have any others.

no worries Isaiah40, but yes, each update takes about 15-30 minutes to do with importing/exporting/uploading, so i'll wait a while to see if you or anyone else has anything to change. :)

ON the next version, i have started working on the border rope some more...it is differing in colour in too many places.

The other thing i'd like some opinion on is...since the small map is already at the supersize, what do people think about taking the "England expects,,," flags off the sail, and placing them on the inside of the border left side...would that look out of place, too odd, or is this a good idea.

If possible, does anyone know if the flags are read from top to bottom or bottom to top when arranged on a single rope?

Sounds good to me, make it happen... if it sucks you can always go back to the current version.

Thanks natty for replying....I don't know if this works or not, but:
1. have moved those flags down the side and they read from top to bottom
2. Added the dock with cannon and barrels
3. this temp width is now 940pixels wide

Only small version...

Looks good, except for the cannon and dock. They look out of place with the rest of the graphics. I say you can just do without them IMHO. Along the bottom and the left, it looks like on this version the rope border was moved a pixel up and to the right. The little flags down the side look okay to me, so I'd say get the rope fixed, take off the cannon and dock, and let's get this stamped!

Do they really look out of place or is it just the colour of them and the fact they don't have the same attributes as the ship background.
Along the bottom and the left, it looks like on this version the rope border was moved a pixel up and to the right.
I think i know where you mean, so i'll fix that, that whole background behind the rope has changed.

the flags still need some touching up and i'm trying to improve the map isaiah40, so the stamping can happen at any time...but thanks for your touch of urgency. ;)

Hm, the transparent flags look a bit odd. Have you tried making them solid?

Yes i agree, but they have been worked on.
i simply put them up there in that state to show if they'd work in that position or do thye need to revert back to the sailcloth background.
So, do they work there?

I think they're ok there.

The cannon and barrels though... they're so dark that they seem to stand out a bit, with the rest of the map being generally light... maybe they could be made a bit lighter?

YES! Now the cannon and dock fit in IMO. One thing, the text on the sail cloth, what happened to it? It is just a tad unreadable now. Anyhow, I think it is a minor detail so let's get this done.
