Ok mussle or bone? If the problem is the mussel this is what you do. Get a heating pad, heat your back every day for 20 minutes. Do not do it for more then 20 minutes! It can hurt your back more. Get back rubs ( from wide or girlfriend is perrferd don't get them from your mom it's awkward.). If that dose not work you should go to ethire a physical therapist or a kyropratic person. Stretching also helps here are some stretches

Curl up in a ball for 30 seconds.

Sit on your knees with your ass touching your heals. Stretch out as far as possible ( make sure your ass touches your heals no matter what!). Hold It for 30 seconds then do it to the right and left for 30 seconds.

I know this cuss the same thing hurts with me and this is what the doctor told me. Go see a doctor tho.

Does anyone know the best way to PREVENT back injuries and pain?

Pilates (as gay/hipster/metro as it is :/) is one of the best core strengthing practices available.

Basically all (good) core workouts include back strengthing exercises. You want to find a routine that suits you (strengthens while avoiding additional damage), and i'd probably suggest you start with a beginners course in pilates or pilates/yoga hybrid (make sure you tell the instuctor your issues)

Personally I keep my back strong with lots of core work (40% of my gym workouts will be core-centric), and have gradually built up to doing almost anything including weighted hypers (http://www.bodybuilding.com/exercises/d ... extensions); haven't had a single back issue since I joined the gym (18 months ago, I had been prone to generic back pain previously)

Alcohol
Weed
Vicodin
Percocets
Oxycontin

In that order, or mix and match as the mood strikes you.
