This is a different America now. This is AA America.
Yes, it would surprise me if a moderate got the nom-nom again. The media gonna do what the media does, and in 2012, the American people are gonna do what the American people do. The energy and motivation is on our side, BIG TIME.
If you noticed, the 2 Tea Party candidates got over 58% of all Iowa votes. It wasn't even close for establishment Republicans. And yes, Ron Paul will beat Obama. Think of all the people who voted for Obama based on the wars. Millions did. Those same people know Ron Paul is the real deal, we just have to deliver the nomination.
2012 = 1984. It's now or never.

Whatever you do DO NOT do that.. you will just weaken any opposition. (unless you really don't care whether its Obama or Bachman).
I don't agree, necessarily. There are times when voting third party, even if it's doomed to failure, is worthy of making a statement. For instance, if there looks to be a very significant-but-still-losing voting block for the third party individual. That very well may happen with Ron Paul this coming election. It's worthy because it will serve as a bit of a wakeup call to others but even more importantly, it could lead to that individual's third party becoming more viable in the following election.
I think a better statement is made by working locally and then out.
Perhaps, but not nearly everyone has that kind of time. I certainly don't during the school year.

I REALLY don't believe this would be the case. You don't seem to understand the extreme dissatisfaction with Obama that is running through the liberal and moderate communities. I don't at all believe if it were Paul/Obama that it would be an Obama runaway.

How is Bachmann considered a Tea Party candidate? Seriously.

I'm sorry, but for some mysterious reason, I am not feeling like helping you find the answer to this one.
But hey, you talk about Bachmann an awful lot, and you have had an awful lot to say about the Tea Party as well. I find it impossible that you have never connected the dots with Bachmann and the TP. But then again, I found it even more impossible that Player did not know Ron Paul is the father of the TP until a couple weeks ago. I wonder, after all these years, how that could possibly be. Oh wait, I know.

Anybody can call themselves "Tea Party".
But, more to the point, the Tea Party has become another tool of the right wing.
She has been saying her part holding up to TP values, as well as in the Tea Party caucus in the House of Representatives, and voting how she said she would vote and for TP principles. However she does not have nearly as much experience as Ron Paul and she varies from him on a few medium issues.

IDK. He has some negatives (super highway, another TX governor?) and I also don't know what he's doing announcing after the debate but before the straw poll. Although, he did beat Romney as a write in!

The Tea Party is the reason cited for the S & P downgrade. The Tea Party is responsible for bringing us to the point where people started wondering if the US would always pay its debt.
Who cited that?
S & P Spokespeople.. as I have said before. You can claim they made the wrong decision, etc, etc, but that is what THEY say.
no no no they did fucking not! They blame partisan bickering, of which you need to stretch that minor political statement to get to "it's the tea parties fault".
SnP - "The downgrade reflects our opinion that the fiscal consolidation plan that Congress and the Administration recently agreed to falls short of what, in our view, would be necessary to stabilize the government’s medium-term debt dynamics."
The Tea Party are the only people that are trying to do anything about the debt.
THE MAIN REASON IS THE 17 TRILLION $ DEBT and if you can't admit that then I don't know how I can take you seriously in the future.
you still ignore how you ignored that twice as many democrats cast the same vote as the Tea Party. Makes me think you are just making hollow attacks with no shame or honor whatsoever.
If you can't understand that the downgrade came at the same time the debt passed our entire GDP, then we don't have anything else to talk about because I have no interest in wasting time on trolls.
See, now you're wrong too. The S&P didn't just say cut spending (which is what the Tea Party wants).
I hereby dub you and Player ultra-partisans for ignoring everything I typed and clinging to some sort of nebulous understanding of facts that only you guys know.

Yes. Fair point.

I don't mean "working" as in "campaigning". I simply mean talking, considering and voting. It takes no more effort to do that locally than on the national level and the impact for local politics is ALWAYS greater.
too often, people just dismiss local battles as unimportant. They can be, of course, but they don't have to be.

I wonder if perhaps there is a reason for that? Has he stated what that might be?
One thing I've always loved about Ventura as a politician is his willingness to stand apart from the crowd and make his own way (and loudly so).

Yeah, because of Sarah Palin. ??? He went on and on about religion and pro-life stuff...and I'm like wow, the left has done a great job of misinformation.

I'm honestly surprised that it's Palin. I would have thought it would be Bachmann, given the other things you mention (which in her case, absolutely have nothing at all to do with misinformation by the left, but are in fact deeply seated in reality and her own statements).
In all seriousness, if the Tea Party wants to be taken seriously as something other than the Republican Party, they need to distance themselves from people like Bachmann. Otherwise, it will never happen.

Jesse is from Minnesota, so he knows a lot more about her than other people who only know the smears against her.
She has been the most vocal, the most effective fighter against Obama. The democrats labeled her target #1 in 2010 election and raised record totals for her opponent Teryl Clark (soros candidate, is now running for state senator already). Bachmann still won 58% to 39%

You talk about "smears", but my biggest problems with her lie in her own statements, including the context of those statements. None of which have anything at all to do with what the Tea Party claims is their platform.

Yup. The Tea Party has been attacked just as much by Republicans as they have Democrats. One thing that tells me I'm in the right place
