is the big one a fudge-up? and in this case is the big fudgeup that maprank is no longer working? because its not.. and that is big..

And don't underestimate other ares (besides web) where flash can be used. It is very popular there. The only hard thing for flash to conquer will be mobile market. HTML5 has already take that niche. That is why Adobe switches to HTML5 as well. for mobile market. But they will fight over other areas till the end.

Well, I still predict HTML5 will largely replace flash for most applications - if there are some specific niche applications that require flash it might survive on that, but HTML5 is looking like it will be more than capable of doing everything flash is.

Besides, flash is a proprietary platform, while HTML5 is totally open-source. That's a huge advantage for HTML5. Small, independent developers, who are largely responsible for the innovation on any new platform, are much more likely to choose the open format, and thus it's popularity will increase.

And in the future, the mobile market will more and more be merged with the regular internet. With phones dropping flash support, while supporting HTML5, a lot of developers will be likely to just skip flash alltogether.

We've heard "the big one is coming" and "oh, it will be big" posts, can we go ahead and get the "i told you it would be big" posts out of the way so this thread doesn't stay alive for weeks past its relevance (as is currently the case).
