How should scoring for Grids 3 & 4 be in Round 2? Less games here means elimination is affected.

1. Give each of these players a 2-1 victory against the deadbeat opponent no longer playing.
11
44%
2. Give each of these players a 3-0 victory against the deadbeat opponent no longer playing.
3
12%
3. Randomly "roll the dice", using random.org or some other random way for a win/loss ratio against deadbeat opponent no longer playing.
1
4%
4. Do nothing.
2
8%
5. Compare deadbeat's scores in tournament to any games already played against an opponent in tourney and score similarly.

6. Randomly pick a player from another Grid to play 3 games against. These games will only count towards Grids 3 & 4 kill counts, and do not affect Grids 1 or 2.

7. Pick a 7th opponent from Grids 3 & 4 to play a 7th set of games in the other Grid (similar to option 6, but specifically only from grids 3 & 4)

Grid Wars [Abandoned]

Post by Fuzzy316 »

I call this GRID WARS!!!

This tourney is for 32 players and is for premium players only due to multiple games being played at once. However, no more than 6 at one time to avoid game overload.

This is a twist using a round robin-type tourney format. Players will play in groups known as a grid. There will be 4 grids. Each grid will have 8 players in it, assigned in order of signing up. Players signing up will be assigned to a grid in sequential order. Every 4 players signing up will be put in a different Grid, until all 4 grids are full. So the 1st 4 players to sign up will go to grids 1-4 respectively, then the next 4 go to Grids 1-4 respectively, and so on until all 4 grids are full.

Universal Settings:
Automatic
Sequential
Escalating
Chained
Sunny
Casual

Maps vary depending on the round.
Round 1: Great Lakes
Round 2: Route 66
Round 3: Iceland
Round 4: Draknor- Level 1
Round 5: Wales
Round 6: Asia
Finals: Rail Australia
Each player will play 3 games against everyone in their own grid, a maximum of 6 games at a time. This ensures at least a 2 games to 1 victory for players in every set of games. Scores will be tallied for each grid and wins/losses recorded. When each grids games are complete, the grids will shift.
Players will now be reassigned to grids, based on their records. Grids are now ranked with highest winning players in Grid 1, on down to the lowest in Grid 4. Each Grid the players will be ranked 1-8 to determine placement.
Any ties that cause a grid to have more than 8 players will result in a single game being played between the tied players. Depending on the number of players, more than one spot in a single grid may be filled using this method. Winners definitely get a spot in the grid, losers may or may not.

For example: After all Round 1 games played, the top Grid has 6 players with the best records, and then 4 players tied with the next best record, resulting in 12 spots to fill Grid 1. Since only 8 are available, those 4 would play a single game together. The 4th and 3rd place finishers in this game move to Grid 2, and the 1st and 2nd place players take the 7th and 8th places in Grid 1.

Round 2 will again repeat the process of gameplay for Round 1 gamesm, with each player playing all others 3 times in 1 vs 1 games. Again, no more than 6 games at a time to be played. Win/loss scores will be tallied, and wins/losses are cumulative.
After Round 2 the grids will once again shift, using the same method to determine Grids 1-4 used after Round 1. The bottom 8 players in Grid 4 will be eliminated.

After the players in Grid 4 are eliminated, remaining player win/loss scores are then reset. 3 Grids and 24 players remain. Grid assignments remain as players were ranked at end of Round 2, before eliminations.
If there is more than 8 players who fall into Grid 4 after Round 2, those players who are closest to the top of Grid 4 will play a single game to determine who moves up to Grid 3, with the loser(s) being eliminated.

In Rounds 3 and 4, players will repeat the play style of Rounds 1 and 2. No more than 6 games at once. Win/loss records are again scored, and after Round 3, grids will shift in the same manner as after Round 1. Round 3 & 4 scores are cumulative.
After Round 4, Those players with the worst records will be in Grid 3 and are then eliminated. Any tie breakers in either round 3 or 4 will be determined using the same method as before. There are now 2 Grids and 16 players remaining. Win/loss scores are again reset. Grid assignments remain as players were ranked at end of Round 4, before eliminations.
Remaining 16 players repeat the same process of playing 3 games against each player in Round 5, no more than 6 games at once. and win/loss scores recorded. After Round 5 the grids shift once more and Round 6 is played. Round 5 & 6 scores are cumulative. After Round 6 elimination takes place.
The bottom 8 players, now in Grid 2, will be eliminated. Any tiebreakers needed follow same rules as before.
Final 8 players play each other 3 times once again, no more than 6 games at once. Bottom 4 players are then eliminated. The top 4 players then advance to Round 8 Final. Tiebreakers determined as before, and win/loss records are reset.

Final 4 players then play each other in a best of 5 series. Win/loss records are kept for these final games, and should result in a single winner. If any players are tied for 1st place at this point, a single game between tied players will be played to determine the champion.
Hey buddy, I'd totally join if the game load wasn't going to be so high. This format looks awesome, but I can't handle playing 24 Great Lakes games at once lol
