Congrats to the Sens today. Why? I'm not a Sens fan by any means. I consider the team a non-issue in general by their utter failure to produce. But, I really hate NY teams
I also hate Philly (more than anyone) and danced a jig when I saw the highlight reel of the Jets' win.
The Canucks continue to disappoint me, and while I've always tried to be fair to Luongo in the past (statistically speaking he has been one of the best goalies in the league for years) he is very difficult to cheer for as a fan, right now. He's playing like he's in the bloody ECHL!
And really, a wax figure of Ovechkin is the first wax figure of a hockey player ever? That is disgusting. So many others deserve the honour more. He hasn't even earned a Cup yet!

That he is. While I was initially horrified to see a Flyers player drafted in my hocky pool, I was moderately relieved it was Jagr. I'll just use him until he's worthless again.

Jagr can do whatever he wants. I still love him from his old years with the Pens.

I don't want to get ahead of myself, but I think we're a lock to win the Stanley Cup.
They are looking good. The Pens are lucky to have Staal holding things down while Crosby and Malkin are out. Not many (if any) teams in the NHL are that deep down the middle.
On another note...my Sens seem to have remembered they are not a good team and lost their fourth in a row.
Was at the Wings - Avs game on Tuesday, where Detroit won 5-2 behind Johan Franzen's hat trick. Hopefully that 6 game losing streak was the aberration, and we can get back to our typical winning ways.
I played goal my entire hockey life through minor, junior and beer league. I'm also a father to a goaltender. But my thoughts on this may seem anti-goalie. I think that if a goalie comes out to play the puck, they are fair game. A goalie's position on the ice is to stop the puck. Any hit to the goalie while stopping a puck should definitely be penalized. But a goalie playing the puck, shouldn't be afforded the same immunity. I have seen goalies come out to play the puck by sliding into it and knocking over the skater with no penalty. And in every game you see a goalie stop the puck behind his net for his team mate and set a pick on the skater chasing him. He knows he can do that because the player will get a penalty if he hits the goalie. A skater setting a pick gets an interference call. Brutal.
I may get kicked out of the goaltender fraternity, but that's how I feel.

Good comparison.
very good comparison. Look, I'm all for protecting a goalie when they are in their crease. When a goalie skates almost all the way to the blue line however I think he is fair game. Also the entire buffalo team is a joke for not sticking up for their goalie.
And it's not like a goalie is completely defenseless. With all of his pads, his mass is probably greater than any single player on the ice. If Miller lowered his shoulder, Lucic wouldn't have stood a chance.
Also, love it. Penguins are down 3-1 yesterday against the Avalanche and then I realize the game is on cable and start watching it. They come back and win big =D

I took a beating on a hockey forum for taking that stance...and I used to play goal.

If you watch the clip closely you can see Miller brace himself. Lucic is just a machine. But I do know what your saying.

I respect you for being a goalie and taking that stance. Cuz I mean when it comes down to it it's MEN playing other MEN in a sport. If the goalie leaves his safe zone as a MAN he should expect to be hit. Miller pretty much admitted he's a fairy in the interview after. I'll interpret the interview. Millers words being lower case and the interpretation being upper case. Miller: "I don't really want to get into that I just wanted to stick around to say what a piece of shit I think Lucic is." Interpretation: "WAH WAH WAH WAH LOOK AT ME IM A PUSSY!" Miller: "50 pounds on me and he runs me like that? gutless!" Interpretation: "IM TO MUCH OF A BITCH TO ADMIT I WAS OUT OF MY NET SO I'LL JUST SAY HES A MONSTER AND IM A PRINCESS AND BLAME IT ON THAT!"

He was sort of feeling sorry for himself but truth is goalies aren't supposed to be hit like that! Lucic is douche bag for checking a goalie.
AoG for President of the World!! I promise he will put George W. Bush to shame!
