natty_dread wrote:One thing btw... should I mention it somewhere on the map that the African territories give no bonus? I figure it shouldn't be too hard to figure out since there's no mention of them in the bonus legend, but maybe it'd be easier to just mention it anyway so people won't have to spend time looking for them on the map...?
I think it would be best to do so if you can fit it. But I don't think it is a pressing issue if you didn't include it.
What do you know about map making, bitch?

i would not mention africa. if it's not in the legend it obviously gives no bonus.

Is Tajikistan in a different, thinner font?

No, you don't understand. You have seen the inner bones of my map. I have violated the sacred code of the secret map ninjas. To preserve my honour, I must now take my own life.

It has been nice knowing all of you. I shall now proceed to stab myself to death with my tablet stylus.

Or... there is one other option. If I were to receive a gameplay stamp, it might possibly alleviate my dishonour enough that I wouldn't have to resort to seppuku...

A small thing about the Scandi region names; it should read Southern Sweden, not South Sweden?

Also, I wouldn't use Norrland, but instead go with Southern Sweden / Northern Sweden or simply S. Sweden / N. Sweden.

South Sweden is shorter and it's consistent with the other territory names.

I also don't see a problem with Norrland, it's a pretty well established name for the region.

Just found another minor issue : Nepal shares no border with Bangladesh.

Sometimes borders have to be tweaked for gameplay purposes.

Austria doesn't really border Poland either, but it'd be impossible to fit Czheck republic in between...

Although...

I could perhaps add a strip of land to connect Assam to Central India, separating Nepal/Bangladesh, but doing the accurate borders would be impossible, as the borders of the 2 countries are so close to each other it'd be too hard to see...

That is exactly. It's not about Nepal/Bangladesh, but about Assam/Central India; they shall share border :)

British Islands are very strong. Have you considered making it +1 only, or have it split a region with West Europe in France?

How is it "very strong"? In the scale of this map, +2 is nothing. It's already the smallest bonus on the entire map, and +1 would be way undervalued.

As for split regions, there's now exactly 1 on each superbonus, I think it's best to keep it that way.

oh by the way
just for general knowledge
the main transit point north of Italy is the Gotthard tunnel in...
Switzerland ;)

In a six- or seven player game the BI would be the ideal place to start your conquest (if drop allows it). It's a small bonus at the edge of the map and it connect directly to two of the top four, early bonuses on the map, of which neither has a shared region.

Either way, it only gives you +2. It has 2 borders to defend, and 3 territories, and no way to reduce border count easily. +2 is not that much on a map where you get +5 at the start of a 6 player game just from the territory bonus.

You can expand from it to other bonuses, but then that's true of pretty much any bonus on this map.

classic oceania has no way to reduce border count either. increasing the number of regions in the british isles bonus to 4 will be a good move.

near east will benefit from reunified turkey and iran regions. middle east is probably the least attractive bonus on the board because of the number of potential hostile neighbours, so reducing the number of regions makes sense. players can alternatively take advantage of a quick route between europe and india. cyprus is part of the european union and therefore ought to be part of the mediterranean bonus.

corsica belongs to france, not italy. if u don't want it to be a separate region, then just colour it dark green and don't mention it (just as majorca is unnamed).

Thanks for your feedback, Ian!

I don't think so, I've already reduced the amount of 3-region bonuses a lot on this map. Adding another region to Britain would also make it really cluttered and messy, and it wouldn't really do that much - it'd just be one extra territory to take. However, if this really is an issue, I can add a sea route between Ireland and France. This way whoever takes Britain will have to also take France to cut the border count to 2, so it's effectively the same thing as adding another region.

Not all the areas on the map need to be attractive though. There can be some hard bonuses, I think. Besides the changes you suggest don't reduce the borders of the area, and wouldn't make it any easier to defend.

However: I could add mountains between Caucasus & Volgograd and add a 1-way assault from Caucasus to Volgograd... effectively reducing the borders of Middle East by 1, and making it a bit easier to hold. How's that sound?
iancanton wrote:cyprus is part of the european union and therefore ought to be part of the mediterranean bonus.
EU-membership isn't a factor in deciding the bonus divisions. Turkey is negotiating for EU membership as well and I still wouldn't make it part of Europe. Also, adding Cyprus to Mediterranean would mean I'd have to connect it to Greece and it would mean one extra border for Middle East.

I can do this.
