How will the world, humanity, civilization, etc. end?

Post by Utafar »

ATTENTION!
If you intend on posting here please read the following before hand

In all seriousness I want to see mostly well thought out theories, preferably logical and at least based on somewhat valid information. If that is impossible for you I don't mind as long as this thread isn't flooded with spam.

Also

You can post a comment if you want you don't need to post a theory, opinions are well come.

I'd appreciate it if you use moderately good spelling and grammar, so none of that Leet speak bullsh*t or whatever you call it

And Keep the flaming to a minimum

(I am aware my spelling and grammar aren't perfect but despite saying this and every thing before it I completely expect at least one idiot poster will contradict me just because I pointed out what would piss me off in this thread)

Ok lets get started. There are many theories concerning the end of the world, humanity, etc. some serious some made for entertainment.

There are TONS of examples in that category alone. Movies with various forms of asteroids or comets on a collision course with earth, Video games like Gears of War depicting the very end of the civilization and humanity along with it......

The list goes on and on. But how will it all really end?

Global warming? Nuclear War? The Sun annihilating us and more in a super nova!?!?!?!?!?

We can't know for sure until the end itself. What I want to know, though, is.... How do you think it happens?

global warming makes earth a wasteplanet. the remaining humans have a 3rd world war and everyone dies except for the winner, who becomes the master country and takes over the galaxy. by then there will be enough technology to live on other plalnets, and live will reappear on mars in a few billion years :D lol

Basically what JND said, but with some clarifications.

As Global Warming increases, droughts and terrible storms will increase, destroying most of the crops and livestock in the world... As famine begins, wars will break out for food, with warlords owning as much as they can- much like what already happens in Africa...

I believe that the major powers will destroy the world in their attempt to only take care of their own citizens, and not take care of the WORLD...

The few people who do actually attempt to make a difference with the world as a whole will not have the money, strength, or manpower to take control of what happens.

Let's see... we've had nuclear weapons for less than 100 years and we've come close to using them a few times already. Seems to me that all out nuclear war is likely to wipe us out before anything else gets the chance.

I heard how Molten lava adds a hand full of acres to the earth's crust each year or something like that. The way I understand it if that comes from lava flows and eruptions eventually the earth will be come hollowed out (if it lasts long enough for that) and when that happens, not only will our atmosphere diminish letting in the full affect of the sun's rays and the cold reaches of space but the earth's gravity would cause the entire planet to cave in and implode.

I may have some false information in there so if you know what I have wrong, please, correct my mistake

The killer koalas ally with the drop bears and together they exterminate all humans in Australia. Then they'll pay off the ants and termites to get into the big computers and cause so called 'bugs' that will lead to a worldwide breakdown of the electricity grid. In the ensuing chaos most humans will kill each other off and the few survivors will be eaten by the ants.

I've went with "Earth running out of resourses", although us as a civilisation killing each other off for the scraps wouldn't be impossible.

The world itself will be here after we're gone, just as it was here before we were mutated from whatever we evolved from.

I'm surprised you didn't put in religious theories such as in Christianity, we believe God will eventually come down, and destroy earth.

 (again)

[sarcasm]I completely agree Australians would lack the firepower and man power necessary to defend themselves against killer koalas! I mean really, koalas only live in Eucalyptus trees and only eat the tree's leaves. Plus koalas are slow, small, and sleep most of the day. Along with the fact that dingos would eat most of the koalas on the ground during the first assault on the humans, there is no way in hell Australia stands a chance![/sarcasm]

But I think your theory on the ant koala alliance is stupid. [sarcasm]The ants would surely betray the koalas and establish a new country in place of Australia called - Jaralaf[/sarcasm]

I'd say a nuclear war that breaks as a result of earth running out of natural resources.

plate tectonics mean that the crust also submerges in trenches and returnes to lava so the earth always stays the same size, also if lava creates a new layer then the layers below will have less cooling from the surface so they will melt, the crust always stays the around the same thickness

I've not voted because its a combination.

Global Warming leads to a shortage of resources, which leads to the west having a second imperialism, which leads to conflict with China and the east, and possibly Russia(depending on their political situation in about 100-150 years time). This is turn will lead to a world war, probably from a small catalyst, just like WWI.

It wont be the end of the world, but unlike WWII it will put us back to around the beggining on the 19th century imo due to the amount of damage caused and lives lost and general catostrophic results.

The polar ice caps will shift on December 10, 2012. The ancient Mayans predicted it, so it must be true.

Psalms says the meek will inherit the Earth. Many people are confused because the bible also says there will be a new heavens and new earth. So it leads them to belive that the "old" earth will be destroyed and the meek will inherit the "new" earth.

Maybe thats one possiblity you should explore!!!
