#70 What comes next in the series, and why?
Triangle, Dot, Circle, Square, Circle, Pentagon, _______(4)
#71 If you threw a white hat with a blue ribbon into the Red Sea, what would it become?(4)
#72 A girl was walking through the forest to her granny to give her some eggs that she was carrying in her basket.
She came accross a bridge with an angry troll guarding it "give me half your eggs and half an egg and I will let you pass" said the troll. She did this, without cutting any of her eggs in half.
Before she reached her granny's cottage she had to pass four bridges in all, each guarded by a troll and each making the same demand. Each time, she was able to give a whole number of eggs to the troll (She never had to cut an egg in half)
When she got to her granny's cottage, she found that she had no more eggs left.
How many eggs did she start off with? (5)
#73 You have two ropes of unequal lengths each of which when lighted on one end burns up in exactly in one hour. However the rate of burning in any given length on any rope is not known. That is, the burning of the rope is non-uniform along the length. Also the direction of burning is immaterial. That is, any point on any of the ropes burns equally in the forward as well as backward direction.
The question is, how will you measure exactly 45 minutes with these two ropes, a matchbox and nothing else? You are not allowed to cut the ropes or twist them etc.(4)
#74 Alfred, Betty, Charlie, and Diane go to their local bar for drinks.
Betty turns to Alfred and says "Alfred, You owe me a drink."
This reminds Charlie, and he turns to Betty and says "Hey, Betty, you owe me TWO drinks."
Diane, remembering their last night out, turns to Charlie and says "Wait a minute, Charlie, you owe me THREE drinks."
Alfred, not to be outdone, turns to Diane and says "Yeah, but Diane, you owe me FOUR drinks."
"Oh no," groans Charlie. "We're going to be drinking all night!"
Assuming everybody is telling the truth, and all drinks cost the same amount, how can you keep these poor drunks from being stuck in the bar all night? What is the smallest number of drinks they have to buy to settle all debts?(5)
