I think I may have solved the issue with the purple (more red now), shading (forgot to scale the glow) and title (bolder and moved under the texture layer, lower case j).

Just a tidy up. Nothing major. Anything else people need to be done to this one?

^^ trying to work out the gameplay so aon can see how to win many more gold medals

koontz1973...amazing texture but the borders aren't doing it for me, sorry. everything seems blended together almost...not much contrast is what i'm probably referring to.
also, there was a version previously on this page - small map only i saw it on - that had a gold touch to the title. imho, the title is better in that gold (thread) that it is now.
only my opinions though. ;)

if you're going for a cloth/fabric look, check this out, it might give inspiration. :)

Thanks cairnswk, AoN is always after the next gold. Will have to play this trench style then. ;)

The title I though was good but RedBaron pointed out that the texture did not show. Did this but will try to get a compromise between the two and try to please everyone.

Not cloth texture but a canvas. Which is sort of cloth but far more textured. Thanks for the link, will give it a look when I have my sons B'day cake finished.

This should be a good compromise between the two for the title.

cairnswk, forgot to ask about the borders. Can I ask you to give me a better picture of what you want. Adding more contrast made them look lighter but nothing about this map is really light so left as is.

Rechecked the CB tests and found some of the newer colours blended to much. New colours with the CB tests in the spoiler below.
Found a solution to the river blending problem. Should be enough.
Added the reinforcements control. No one asked for it but it needs to be in.

I think the mention of reinforcements should probably be even leveled, in stead of the slant. I know it'd obscure a little of your image, but I think it is worth it.

Overall, this is pretty interesting map. I think I like the small map better than the large, since it seems things overall just seem bigger and blurry with the large!

I'd probably suggest softening the image of the Buddha, just so it is less on the level of the gameboard.

The text for the small could also maybe use a bump in size if possible.

Best of luck.

Can do.

The image overall is soft, not blurred but is less noticeable in the small because of the size.

No room in a couple of the territs for a larger text but will have a try at something.

Reinforcments level.
Background softened a tad.
Colours rectified.
Text on small cannot be made larger, tried to change text but all that tried either did not fit map, territs or was unreadable.
The background, do not want it on another level, think of the map as a large canvas that someone has painted on, not a map drawn on a computer.

The shadow of around the playing surface kinda makes it pop off the canvas, not a good thing. It sould be IN the fabric, not coming off it. a bit more of a "sinking" of the image into the canvas may be required, a bit of beveling/shadows and highlights in the proper spaces could do the trick.

Why is it that the small map looks better than the bigger one?

I think things appear / are sharper on the smaller map, since I thought something similar.

Because I only play the small one so saved the best for me. ;)

Actually, I have no idea. They are in essence identical copies of the same thing. It may be that the texture and lines on the large is more noticeable so it causes the effect of being a different map.

A couple of things I see right off the bat:
1 - the minimap colors don't match those of the main map due to the fact that that corner is darker. Try adding in the impassable rivers, and maybe a dark line to separate Pusat and Barat so people will be able to see what is what. This will also help for those who are color blind. You could also lighten the minimap up a tad as well, I know that it won't have that painted on canvas feeling, at the same time we have to be able to see it clearly.

2 - the second version looks much better as the shadows and such don't glare at you!
