This is the third in a short series of five tournaments celebrating my favourite maps of 2011. The term "Best of" is highly subjective, of course. I offer no warranty that these maps are the "best" by any measurement other than my personal opinion. This tournament will feature all these maps with Nuclear spoils. (The first tournament in this series used No Spoils, the second used Flat Rate. This one is third is Nuclear, the fourth will run Escalating, and the last one will feature randomized spoils.)
Eligibility: To play in this tournament, you must be premium, have a turns-taken record of 98% or better, at least 100 completed games, and be at least a PFC on sign-up.
Procedure:The format of this tourney will be familiar to anyone who has played in my "Nuclear War" series. In each tourney in this series, the first nine phases will consist of multiplayer Standard games. In each of these phases, only the first player eliminated from each game is eliminated from the tournament. All others will continue to the next phase. As soon as all games in a phase have had one player eliminated, I will begin the next phase with the survivors. Winning these games will not influence the course of the tournament; only that first elimination is significant.
[spoiler=special rule for maps with victory conditions]New rule: If someone wins a map by the victory conditions, without anyone having been eliminated, that person will automatically proceed to the next round. The remaining players will replay the same map.
The four maps with victory conditions are: Transsib1914 (phase 2), Northwest Passage (phase 3), Conquer Rome (phase 6) and Roark's Drift (phase 7).
We will also apply this rule if the game is won by round limit with nobody having been eliminated.[/spoiler]
In the Final phase, all remaining players will play simultaneously in nine multiplayer Terminator games. These games will be completed and winning them will count, as will the number of kills.
Settings: All games will be Casual, Automatic, Foggy, Chained, Nuclear, with a 100-round limit and no trench.

40 players in 5 groups will play 8-player games on the Middle Ages map. The first player eliminated in each game is out of the tournament. The remainder will go on to the next round.[/spoiler]

35 players in 5 groups will play 7-player games on the Transsib 1914 map. The first player eliminated in each game is out of the tournament. The remainder will go on to the next round.[/spoiler]

30 players in 5 groups will play 6-player games on the Northwest Passage map. The first player eliminated in each game is out of the tournament. The remainder will go on to the next round.[/spoiler]

25 players in 5 groups will play 5-player games on the Fractured China map. The first player eliminated in each game is out of the tournament. The remainder will go on to the next round.[/spoiler]

20 players in 4 groups will play 5-player games on the Clandemonium map. The first player eliminated in each game is out of the tournament. The remainder will go on to the next round.[/spoiler]

16 players in 2 groups will play 8-player games on the Conquer Rome map. The first player eliminated in each game is out of the tournament. The remainder will go on to the next round.[/spoiler]

14 players in 2 groups will play 7-player games on the Rorke's Drift map. The first player eliminated in each game is out of the tournament. The remainder will go on to the next round.[/spoiler]

12 players in 2 groups will play 6-player games on the California map. The first player eliminated in each game is out of the tournament. The remainder will go on to the next round.[/spoiler]

10 players in 2 groups will play 5-player games on the South Africa 1885 map. The first player eliminated in each game is out of the tournament. The remainder will go on to the next round.[/spoiler]
The finals will be different from the first nine phases.
[spoiler= Phase 10 - Finals]Phase 10: The Final shootout!
In the final round, the eight remaining players will face off simultaneously on all nine maps used in the tournament thus far. These games will be Terminator, and players will score 1 point for each kill and two extra points for winning a game. The player who scores the most points in the final phase will win the tournament.
In case of a tie, the following tiebreaking rules will be used
1. Total wins in the Final Shootout.
2. Total kills in the Final Shootout.
3. Total wins in the whole tournament.
