Random maps always gives me France 1789

you've only played twice on random map and neither was on France 1789

The last 2 games I created were supposedly random maps - and both were the france maps.

Do you mean Game 11281839 and Game 11236761?
In that case you did something wrong. Like DiM said earlier you played just 2 random games, the most recent games on france 1789 you played are not random.

Random map games have written (random) next to the map name on the game finder page ...see the spoiler

So i put in my settings, and select random map link, and then hit create game button? I understand how the random works. Even if I filter out the france map - by picking complex maps for example, when I hit the random map link, france shows up in the drop down selection.

I create all the games the same way, put in my settings, then pick the map. The only difference is when I click random map, it just goes to france.

Are you trying to use the picklist as a filter for random map? Unfortunately that is not a feature yet, and that may be where your issue it coming from.

I did some test. I think I finally understand what you were trying to say. (sorry if I misunderstood you )
Perhaps, when you're on the start a game page, you click on the drop down menu, then you click a letter on your keyboard to "browse" maps?
The only way I can have something like what you say is doing that.
I click the dropdown menu with the thumbnail that shows classic (or another map BUT NOT random), then i click the "F" letter till I reach France 1789, then I click the random link, the page shows to me for a millisecond the france 1789 thumbnail before to load the random thumb (questions mark).

Is this what you're trying to say? In this case you're right, but just because you selected that map.

It does the same for any other map, just the game loads the thumbnail of the last map I've picked (using the keyboard) before to load the random one. I think it's normal since if you use the keyboard the thumbnail doesn't load immediately but only when you "really" give to the page an input (clicking the link), so it loads the first info (the map selected with the keyboard), then the random one.
In any case, that doesn't mean you will play France 1789, just it loaded the thumbnail because you "selected" it.

Nope - I do not touch the keyboard or the map dropdown. As soon as I click on the random maps link, the question mark icon shows up, but france 1789 becomes the default name in the map dropdown list, and then the game is created as a france game, not as a random game

Are you using some add-ons? I guess that your problem come by using an add-on which is called "Conquer Club Filter" This add-on is very old, so it doesn't show the new updates (is not working well). Because the last map which shows in the list is France 1789 (instead of random). And as this add-on doesn't work very well, choosing things like "complex maps" won't help you at all. My recomendation is to desactivate that add-on, on you'll be able to choose random map again.
