I don't like starting a conversation by saying "this is not meant to insult anyone", but truly I think we are a community and should be even more open with each other given the small amount of people working in the foundry these days.
The feeling of apathy (a state of indifference) is certainly evident from most of the community (mods, players, map makers, etc), except a few. There is no need to call anyone out, but I think what Oneyed is saying is that the door of respect for those more involved than others should swing both ways. As map makers we now respect the rules set upon us for making maps, which ultimately was about not wasting peoples time, so shouldn't we be able to at least expect timely acknowledgement of updates, questions, etc.? Which is the only way for us to make the appropriate changes to help our maps, because again what Oneyed is saying is that the "community" can post feedback, but it is really the mods who have the final say on whether or not those changes are appropriate, good, and should be put in place to move the map forward. Again, without the acknowledgement of the Mods I feel like I have to wait for that final approval so as not to do double work changing changes. And I strongly say "acknowledgement" because that is important, I'm not looking for in-depth responses to every post. It should go without saying that we all have real life stuff, but we also know that most, if not all of us, check in at least once a day if not more, and probably receive mobile update to threads, etc., so a simple "acknowledgement" goes a really long way. Just a, "I see your update, I'll take a look in the next day or two.", or "Good question, let me get back to you on that.". Etc., etc., etc.
Personally I want more, from the foundry, from the community, from my maps, from myself. I want to use this site, and the community to improve my skills and get better at making maps. I just really like this place, and now the people, and only want make maps for the masses. If the goal is to slow down the number of maps coming out of the foundry, then that should be done in other ways while still maintaining the involvement of those who are willing and able to put long hours of time and energy into voluntarily providing entertainment for others. I AM NOT SAYING THAT IS WHAT'S GOING ON NOW, so please do not harp on this last paragraph.
Anyway I just wanted to share my feelings, and look forward to the discussion.
