This tournament is based on the 1990 FIFA World Cup in Italy. Please note that the way teams are assigned games in the Knockout Stage is not the rule that was used in the 1990 FIFA World Cup.
There will be 24 players in this tournament (1 per team). The players have the opportunity to pick their team. If the team they pick is already taken or if they don't specify a team, they will be assigned the first available team. The tournament format is explained below.
Group Stage:
The group stage is a round robin. Each team will play a round-robin inside their own group. Each win is worth 2 points and a loss isn't worth any. If the round limit is reached, each team receives 1 point (it is a draw). Based on points, the top two teams from each group and the four best third-place teams advance to the Knockout Stage. If there is a tie in points, the two tied teams will play-off with the same settings above (except for that there is no round limit). The placing in the play-offs goes by the order of elimination.
