I also overheard once that jon snow and thoros of myr are milk brothers and were raised together in their first years by thoros's mother. But I don't know, I think it would be too easy to end up with jon on the throne, seems too predictable. (but then, martin is trying so hard to be unpredictable that the predictable becomes unpredictable :? )

It is true that with ned stark having such a sense of honour, it seems pretty strange to imagine him cheating on catlyn mostly in his first years of marriage. Was he trying to protect his sister's virtue and memory after her death? did rhaegar rape his sister? Did he know how important was jon's lineage, and that if it was revealed people would ve tried to murder him? Could he not trust catlyn and tell her the truth instead of putting himself in such an embarassing situation? robert baratheon and john aryn probably knew the truth... so he would trust them more than his loving wife, and would put himself in the "danger zone"? Not to mention that jon was hated by cathlyn all his childhood because of that..
Robert Baratheon certainly didn't know. That would be the first person he'd want to keep that knowledge away from.
I kind of remember robert in season 1 telling something to ned about a girl he met during the war that was jon s mother...

The reason I said that is because I remember that too. He certainly didn't know anything about that because he seemed to think Ned had a bastard with her, and if your theory is right, it isn't Ned's child at all.

Also, Robert get itchy sword/strangling fingers when he just hears the name Targaryen, he wants to kill everyone with that name. Not the type of person you go tell that you're raising a bastard Targaryen kid lol.

Robert definitely doesn't know. As far as I am aware, there are no characters that do know left alive. However, it is not beyond the scope of imagination for Martin to introduce one with this information.

Ned gives a name to Robert for Jon's mother, and in the books he tells Catelyn the same name. That's about the extent of what he will discuss with either though. So I still don't see it as much of a stretch for him to have this cover story as we really don't have any details on anything.

In the books, Robert and Ned at one point discuss how Rhaegar raped Lyanna at some point just before Robert killed Rhaegar. So the timeline stacks up. It's also pretty clear that Ned was alone when he found her, dying, or that there may have been up to only a handful of people present. Which gives him a big opportunity to claim the child.

The only person alive that was with Ned when he found his sister is Howland Reed, the father of the boy (Jojen) and girl (Meera) who are currently helping Bran under the wall to the north.

Assuming, of course, that the theory is true as to who Jon's parents are...

Reed is the lord of the crannogmen. He is lord of his house at Greywater Watch in the swamps of The Neck and he defends the North. He is the most loyal bannerman of the Starks. He is only mentioned in the books. It seems he doesn't get out much......

I guess he will die soon, but we are going to miss a lot of entertainment without him. I'd rather see melissandre die but I don't see this happening.

Well I'm guessing they'll make someone from the lannister side die anyway. For the moment they are winning and this takes away the tension away a bit :| So kill off a lannister to rebalance!

yeah i was sure a lannister would die on episode 10.. tywin or joffrey, surprised nothing extreme happened in the last episode after the shocking episode 9. I guess the throne will switch hands many times before the end of the story, and joffrey has been there for quite a while now. So either he gets killed, either he gets kicked out of there by grandpa in season 4.

Tywin wouldn't kick out his own grandson unless he absolutely had to. Funnily Season 1 was the same (as I remember) Episode 9 featured the beheading of Ned Stark and then 10 was mostly set up for next season. Of course there they at least showed that the Starks had captured Jaime Lannister.

Anyways, as pale a white as the fire priestess turned when she read the news from the Night Watch...how many lords will turn their eyes north now? From their personalities, I have the feeling that Tywin will want to ride against the White Walkers but Joffrey will act arrogant and insist on beating the seemingly dead horse that is the Starks. Well dead at least until Jon Snow rides south to avenge his brother or Arya sneaks into Kings Landing and assassinates Cersei...or Sansa actually does work up the courage to actually push Joffrey off the castle this time.

Tywin? as in the targaryen war where he came out of his hole at the very last moment, or like during the king's landing siege? or as in the fact that he thinks daenerys isn't a threat while joffrey is worried about her case? I don't think tywin will want to move from the south, not even sure he realizes the danger white walkers represent.. I don't see either stannis and lannisters joining forces. I just see stannis going up there and the lannisters letting him deal with it a weaken himself.

Arya, really wonder how things will move on with the hound, cause I think they would make a good pair. She needs him and I kind of like him..

I agree, it seems many people just think of whitewalkers as a fairytale. Though I think they'll eventually need Daenerys her dragons to burn all those whitewalkers and drive 'm back.

About the hound, I agree. He shows himself though but he does show signs of actually being a good guy. What I'm wondering most about though is whether there will come a moment when tyrion will be forced to choose between his messed up family or the greater good.

Errrrr. I said Tywin...I meant Tyrion. I dont think Tywin likes to deal with any problem that he cant bribe his way out of or have it taken care of in some underhanded fashion. Tyrion will see it more seriously I think and maybe play it off as a way of mending fences with the North. After all if stannis rides North and manages to defeat the White Walkers, I think he'll be able to find plenty of Northerners willing to replenish his ranks. Im not sure ai guess I had always assumed that it was Jon Snow's war. I mean the scene with Stannis was the first time anyone ssouth of Winterfell had shown concern over the possibility of White Walkers.

Who do you like more as a person, not really caring if he'd make a good king or not. With other words, who would you want to hang out with?

  • King Robert
    King Stannis
    King Renly
    King Robb
    King Joffrey

I suppose Robb. I havent gotten many good impressions from Robert or Stannis. Joffrey has been horrible and I never felt like I knew Renly that well.

robert has this thing that kind of makes him look like a fun and friendly person, but he's pretty much an asshole. just because he likes and trusts ned doesn't stop him from being a major ass in my opinion. Look how he treated that poor young lannister cousin or even cersei (where is that guy by the way, he was all over the place in previous seasons? and where does cersei gets sex from now?)
Robb is definitely a true nice & trustworthy guy (there is something dull about him though)

Stannis is the worse of all.

Renly was a good guy from what I remember. Why was he even considered in robert's succession by the way? Stannis was the older brother. He won a popularity contest in king's landing? kind of forgot the reason.

Joffrey is just an assclown.

There's only two on your list worth considering.
I can only assume that the telly has been bigging up some randoms if they are considered powerful

Wait.

Also, Baelish, but I just adore that guy.

The best person in my view is Stannis. Robert is probably fun to hang out with at a party, but Stannis is purely a good person. (ignoring that sexist bullshit with Melisandre the show-writers dumped into the story)
