I'm not here to bash anyone's views, but I'll say again: different systems different places, different results. There isn't an overall best way to do it, it depends on the place. Do I pretend to know what works where? No and anyone who does without example is crazy. Its happened plenty of times throughout history, a sucessful system somewhere is adopted somewhere different and it falls apart: lack of resources, mismatched culture, etc. There have been some sucessful adaptations, but those are limited

Absolutely, but I'm not going to let anyone call me a fascist and just leave it at that.
I also voiced an opinion on socialism, a political viewpoint, so I believe it is consistent with the topic.
If its confusing to you, then perhaps you should stick to Flame Wars....
Both are relevant to the thread, fascism more so. Although Fascism is rightfully something of a loaded term, it technically refers to a concentration of power in the state, as opposed to the individual; this is the top-down part. And economics is the left-right axis, although I'm not sure if the furthest left thing is socialism, or if it exists off the axis.
This is one of the things wrong with the graph. If you're just using it only to compare CC members, then it's probably a good rough indicator. Compared to other people on here, I probably am both more to the left & more libertarian than most people. (Except Guiscard - Gah!)

But the placings of the actual politicians on the graph looks like nonsense to me - not so much for their relative positions, but for the probability that Stalin, Hitler, and some of the others are off the scale in certain directions.

I can't remember the questions, and I'm not going through it again, but I don't think I remember any questions which suggested anything quite so economically left-wing as collectivising almost the entire economy, or so authoritarian as liquidating entire sections of the population.

I may have missed some subtleties in the questions, but if I did, then I suggest a lot of people who took the test would have done as well, rendering it useless - (as far as comparing yourself to the actual politicians featured goes.)

I agree. Having Bush sooo far out there on the right didn't make sense to me. He is definitely socially conservative, but economically he spends like a drunken lib.
I got the feeling after the test and seeing some of the results here (and how they listed some historical figures), that the results would tend to push you further to the bottom left quadrant than you really are.
Not to say that I believe everyone here is more conservative (DEFINITELY don't believe that), its just I don't believe that some here would be on par with the likes of Stalin.
Then again, maybe I'm wrong......

Missed this thread, but could I link it a previous thread where I posted.

Perhaps you could add in some of those people to your graph.

I think my position is correctly established to the left of those right wingers Guiscard and Stopper. :)

Iz man, perhaps I used the wrong term. I simply meant the upper right quadrant, not to imply that you were a fascist.

I agree not to change the course of this subject.

However I feel quite comfortable where im at(on the graph)
The dalai lama seems to fit in the general area where hes at.
I wont argue with Stalin,Hitler, and (little?) bush either...

I believe Socialism would be towards the bottom left corner while Communism would be more far left, and Anarchy on the bottom.

-9.25 and -7.33 is really really far over to the left wing libertarians. I think that is the furthest over of anybody, that's all.

I agree with you there, I'm just not as left and considerably more authoritarian. Just hating bigbusinesses isnt really enough to get -9.25 tho. That is just rediculusly left.

I think the compass has a general left-shift in that nearly everyone would consider themselves further to the right than they are... My political views are much more central than they appear here. I think it has something to do with the extremity of the questions and the willingness of people to use 'strongly agree / disagree' when in reality most real-world questions would involve some doubt,. If we all answered 'agree' where we originally answered 'strongly agree' it might be a bit more representative.

actually, most of mine were "agrees" and "disagrees" as opposed to strong feelings.
