On CC we take a liberal stance on what is said. Normal trash talking is allowed, and we generally only step in for bigotry. If you don't like the way he is talking, I suggest to Foe and Move on. Closed

Sorry TFO, but that is a bullshit statement. C&A mods take liberal stand or not whenever they want. They generally step in when they think they can, want to, or feel like it.

I got noted for "normal trash talk", which mean you guys stepped in even when it was nowhere near bigotry. I even used your above statement (which you have made before) to my defense with no avail.

Consistency in the C&A department is still non-existing.... unfortunately.

I easily agree with these two. retard is a highly offensive word in my vocab and would never, EVER, use it. I think he should be charged with bigotry.

I have a retarded family member and I don't really get offended by it, but either way, I just did a quick search and found these cases where C&A did nothing for the use of the word. So, I don't really think you can say they are being inconsistent.

I believe it should be changed. I have an autistic son and I do get offended by the term. I have a gay family member and am not offended by any homophobic terms. I have friends of all color and all religious beliefs and none of those terms offend me. I have family members that are old, and honestly, what is ageism anyway.

I do understand the deeper meaning of the word "retard", however many other terms conceived as bigotry also have historical meanings and at times were considered appropriate.

At least people in the included categories can defend themselves, many so called "retarded" persons cannot.

I think it is unfair to punish people for making fun of homosexuals but not punishing those that make of the mentally challenged. That is inconsistency to me.

Personally I think all trash talking should be allowed. I also think it is unfair to punish people for making fun of someone for their sexual preference but not for punishing people for making fun of someone by using words that have to do with their mental capacity.

Most of you I know don't like it. Now if he called you say, a "mentally ill retarded slimebag" or something and hoped you got aids then that would be bigotry.
