You may have met me before or maybe read some of my (many, many, many) posts on the subject of rights to privacy, but I'm ardently libertarian and anti-government in most, if not all, aspects. I actually despise police states and argue vociferously against all forms of state searches, seizures, brutality, and the like. I'm also a huge fan of any government whistleblowers.

Historically, I have to disagree about the assessment that dictatorships of whatever type lead to Civil Wars or violent uprisings.

Oppression leads to violent uprisings. But there have been a great many nations and people's that have been ruled over dictators of varying stripes (& I'm including Monarchy's here) for hundreds of years, and longer. And even when suppressing a people with oppression, religion has been an effective tool throughout history to quiet the oppressed.




But the greater question is:
Is the world running out of people who sacrifice to achieve peace?
Or do we just not care about these people? Like, Manning and Snowden are the best choices we can think of?


For my money, it's Malala Yousafzai. The story of her peaceful struggle shot across the world like lightning, and really changed a lot of minds about females.

If Pussy Riot wins this thing I'm going to be pissed.

I think the world populace would take a little police brutality over, you know, genocide and war. So, maybe not completely peaceful, but maybe less fatalities. And what if the dictator was benevolent?

Sharing a secret is divisive? Perhaps, but a culture of secrecy is divisive too.

this its not private opinion. American diplomat share hes "private" opinion with entire secret service and who knows how many other US agencies .
US diplomats get order to spy and collect information about foreign diplomats , and its good that everybody knows that ,so when they talk with US Diplomats, think twice what they will say, because US diplomats are not friendly people .

I'm not sure what you're referring to. I can only ask again for you to provide an example that you feel should have been kept secret.
