ok what are they called in english.. righ & left defenders? there isn't a specific term? don't have it mind, if someone can help me and niezsche.. They are way more offensive in south america. There is often problems whe european clubs buy some good ones in south america because they are not adapted to our game systems; they leave spaces behind and they must run back very fast to their defensive position; it requires a lot of stamina all game. Those players are then often used either as R/L defenders or R/L attacking midfielders in europe; very few coaches use a system where the defenders use all the field all game. they are usually very fast players with a lot of stamina and are able to run till the opponent's area and center the ball to the striker.

Usually left/right back - or fullback - but attacking fullbacks are typically called wingbacks; LWB/RWB.

keep your signature mate;
it was a hell of fun betting in between you and i.
we did it, i knew we were capable to do it.
real madrid is powerfull team, swept every points almost % 100.
Then it turned into who will be runner up, i think galatasaray did quite of a job there, i m proud with my team here.

Last 16 teams now...I dont know who i do like to have as opponent. But i know whom i like to have in quarter finals in case we can make into q.finals, it is perfectly real madrid. Cos we have some unfinished job to get done with em

Sorry for marseille, but really betiko, they did not have much chance to do it any better in such a group. IMO, their seeding was unlucky. They drew in such a group in where there were not any weak team to call the name, yes this will be the 4th...I did not expect marseille to finish the group with 0 points though, i did they will be 4th but say at least with one win after 6 completed games. :(

Anyways, lets watch and see. :)

I am saying you, and once again,
galatasaray is one of the finest underdogs over the world at last 20-30 years.
Everyone should know it v.clear :D

Tomorrow at 9PM ET is the first match of the final Leon vs Club America.

In the US could be watched on Fox Sports or Univision.

It might be of interest because the way Club America plays it's the way Mexico will play in the WC, and two or three of the Leon midfielders will be in the team as well.

That game should represent the current level of Mexican Football, and not the way Mexico played on the qualifiers.

Thanks for taking the bait Frenchie.

BTW, Ireland and France were level when Henry hand balled, so no, the Irish didn't need to score another goal... just not concede for pens.

I'm not bothered, they won't go past the last 16 anyway... if they even get that far looking at the last two world cups outside of Europe.

I ve put them second in their group in my forecasts and as you can see i ve kept a low profile regarding our very lucky draw. I think all french are feeling the same. Yeah, the group stage we re in is ridiculous, but we know that we can f*ck this up. We almost fucked it up already playing the first leg of the playoffs vs ukraine as if it was a friendly, cause we were too happy to play them instead of portugal, and thought it was in the bag. I think we won t go past the 1/8th of finals only if we play argentina, otherwise we have our chances. We can still win vs argentina anyways. As i ve said before, france and italy are always the most unpredictable teams. Epic wins and epic f*ck ups all the time.

Regarding ireland; not conceding for penalties doesn t give them any advantage. They would stay at 50/50 chances. Scoring would ve forced france to score twice. Also french players were much more experienced and playing home, so they would ve had a slight advantage on penalties. Anyway, who cares. France did the most embarassing world cup of its history in 2010 and half of the country still hates them for the strike they did ( they refused to train for the last game vs s africa even if they still had a small chance to qualify to protest against anelka kicked out of the team). It would ve been better to see that team not qualify for the 2010 wc because of the stupid punks in the team.

How are your national teams perceived in your own country guys? Do they have a terrible image? Cause here it s the case... The staff and federation have been working hard with the players to try better their image since the last 4 years, but it s still not forgotten. They are seen as spoiled brats whatever they do. Even if it s partly right, it s quite obsessive and it isn t doing no good.

50/50 pens is better than having to score to say alive. We outplayed France in that game (sucked in Dublin) so pens would have been a fair way to end what was an even tie over two games. But you're right, France made themselves look silly at the WC.

There was a claim that someone had hacked into fifa's website and that the draw had already been conducted with Germany and Holland in the same group and Brazil and England in the same group... put the best teams together to make the group stage more interesting. Obviously if that was true they couldn't use the draw which was leaked so had to create a new one... this one.

Last year the exact same draw came out for the Champions League last 16 than what came out in the practice draw, i can't remember the odds for that to happen but it was pretty f*cking high.

I have no doubt that the draw was fixed, as well as the seedings... look at Italy, runners up at Euro 2012 and 3rd at the confederations cup not ranked in the top 7 but Belgium who have not qualified for a major finals in ages and Colombia the same, both have good sides but both Italy and Holland have had better results than them and deserved to be seeded.

Then look at the draw, both Belgium and Colombia have the most boring draws... only big unseeded side not to have a glamor draw is France. France who never have a hard group and who have cheated their way to the last two world cups... ok an offside goal isn't cheating but it wasn't a goal. clearly. Henry handball, a blind rabbit stay that from the top stand.

Rankings are based on performance so they are correct, seeding was done wrong.

And yeah they are always giving easy groups and easy way to finals to France.

As far as Croatia goes, really not sure, I can't ever be sure about any of croatian teams,
they surprise in a good and bad way all the time ;)

The seeding was wrong but the ranking ok? Erm, you know that the ranking were used as the seeding, right?

Italy Finalist at Euro 2012, third at the confederation cup on 2013 and won their group to get into the world cup... not in the top 7 fifa ranking. And you tell me it's based on performance? YEAH.

Italy a striker problem? balotelli, el sharawi, giovinco, gilardino... cassano..totti lol. you don't need to score 4 or 5 per game if you have a good defense and midfield! they went to the last eurocup final beating... germany!!! and uruguay went to the last wc s semifinal and won the copa america again last year.

Balotelli was unimpressive in the UK and got offloaded by Man City, how old is Totti now lol

Our first game is in Manaus which is apparently in the middle of north brazil in a jungle where it is extremely hot. The conditions will be uncomfortable for the Italians too though. Serie A is a lot less competitive compared to the Premiership. Just look at Lamela, scores the fourth amount of goals in Serie A last season, moves to Spurs for a ton of cash and can't even perform well enough to break the first team.

we were definitely the weakest, but that still was insane... 0 points, come on! I think after 4 games scoring 0 points was already an all time record for a french club. 0 after 6.... they gave up after the third game though. we were facing 3 excellent teams, all leading or close in their championship, and the last champion's league finalist...
By the way I wonder how Napoli fans feel after that; marseille was holding a 1-1 until the 87th leaving dortmund out. Then they could ve still qualified (napoli) scoring a third one, and in that case arsenal would've been left out.

Regarding galatasaray: how crazy was it in istambul that day? people stopped working to watch the "mini match" in the afternoon? I heard they were really dominated and that goal at the end was very lucky. did it snow only on tuesday night?
so no sig and no avatar change? i have to honour my bet HA, let me know ;) Oh, and I'd love to see a PSG galatasaray in last 16.

well there you go. if you are at a momentum of the game where you are dominating, and if you score you leave no chance to your opponent to overcome the gap; why be a pussy and wait for penalties? blame your team for not even trying. Not like it's the first time that dominating a match doesn't bring you anywhere if you don't seize your opportinities. And as you mention you guys sucked in dublin; we sucked in france. i know qualifying to a world cup is like winning it for you guys, but 2009 is a bit old.

this isn't about your perception of the italian team over the last few years; it's about a ranking. what they've done this year is what counts for 50% of their ranking. As you can see, they tie way too many times.

you guys need to stop being so self centered with the premier league. You have very moot arguments. When a player moves from one club to another, he often needs loads of time to start performing again. I don't know, take fernando torres. so he sucks playing for chelsea; conclusion liverpool is a much better team (!?) It's just so common to see a player sucking after changing team. Take Lavezzi (argentinian like lamela); top player in Italy he sucks now playing for PSG. Nagerous conclusion: the french national team must be better than the italian National team. lol, even trevor wouldn't have such lame arguments!
Also you are talking about the premier league and national teams at the same time. you guys have so many foreign players in your league that you barely have decent english players. Having some of the best clubs in the world doesn't make you have one of the best national teams. I don't know in what way you think that england is better than italy... just compare player by player the starting 11; and tell me where are you guys superiors, cause I don't see it.
Oh and about Balotelli; as far as I know he scored 2 goals in the last eurocup semifinal vs... Germany qualifying his team for the finals. And no, he did not suck playing for city. Anyone could see how much talent this guy has. His head is just fucked up and isn't someone very focused. But if he is in a good day, your defense will cry.

I agree with betiko on this. The PL isn't what it used to be and may be the strongest league defensively but it's not the best anymore. I'd like to see Messi in the PL though..

Also, players can take time to adapt. There are many classic examples you could look at.

well depends what you mean by "what it used to be". the premier league is kind of stronger than ever these past 10 years because they have negociated well their TV rights and many investors bought some big clubs. Who were the 2 champion's league finalists last year? 2 germans. The other 2 semifinalists were spanish.
And the premier league the strongest league defensively?? please!! offensively, overall I would agree; but the english defenses are far from the best, mostly if you look at the history of horrible keepers there's always been in England. The serie A has always been known to be the best tactically and therefore defensively with the catenaccio.
Something that might surprise you; every foreign footballer that plays in france would tell you that the ligue 1 is the toughest physically, and that they weren't expecting that. Our second division is one of the best in europe, and you have so many half ass teams that can give you a hard time.
