This is a tourney for 21 players. Because players will play many games at once, this is a premium-only tournament.
In this tournament we pay tribute to Sid Meier’s Civilisations, one of the greatest map-based strategy series of all time. I’ve borrowed as many elements from the original Civilisations—in particular Civ II—as possible. (See below for a list.)

To start the tournament
Each player has
-1 seven-player game on their home map and
-6 seven-player games on other players' home maps
for a total of 7 games in Round 1.
From there, gameplay is simple
Win your map—get a by to Round 2.
Lose your map but win on an opponent’s map—survive and play again in Round 1B.
Win no games—you and your civilization are eliminated.
Round 1B: New groups are formed out of surviving civilizations; follows the same format.
Round 1C and 1D as needed, and then on to Round 2 and 3 and 4 as needed until we have 1 winner.
I’ve borrowed as many elements from the original Civ II as possible
For instance, all games are fog of war, to pay homage to the fact that in Civ II you can't see territory you haven't explored. Civ II features 21 civilizations, and so do we. Civ II is for 7 players maximum, and so we will start with 7-player games and return to 7-player games as often as numbers permit. In Civ II you start by picking an empire—in our case a home map, and the maps I've chosen are as close to the colonial/early period of each civilization as possible. Just as in Civ II, if you lose your home territory, you are dead. But if you take an opponent's territory, you survive—even if you lose your original home base.[/spoiler]
