John Laird Mair Lawrence (1864-1869) came from North Yorkshire
Richard Southwell Bourke (1869-1872) came from Dublin, Ireland (another exception)
Francis Napier (1872) Selkirkshire Scotland - we finally find one and he serves as acting viceroy for 3 months
In any event, we can clearly see it was the English, not the Scots who were in charge of taking over India.
