I don't agree with the idea of extra ballots - I strongly believe it should be one ballot per person.

Can we extend Top 10 to Top 15?

I didn't participate fully in years 2 and 3, but got back into year 4 and now year 5.

I did play in the US Vs World after year 1. That was the all-star event. I finished 15th that year, and maybe 1-14 aren't even on the site. So if there are 5 players not on site anymore from year 1, does that mean I get bumped to be able to vote?

Just curious. I like all the thought going into this, it has been quite an experience over the years, and I am glad it is still ongoing.

Oh sorry I was not clearer but the scoreboard shows the TPA points in the column labeled Jack of all trades. And nothing in the column labeled 6 cities.
Not that it really matters just something I notified.

When I click the link ITT for the scoreboard the points I see are in column V and are labeled Jack of all trades.
Six cities tournament shows as column U and has no points.
I guess the issue must be on my end,as noone else seems to be seeing it, so sorry for wasting your time sempai.

Huh. I clicked the link without having signed in to Google and for a moment, I saw what you're seeing - but then it finished loading and appeared as it should be.
Not sure what the issue is there, but it's an interesting one.

The major was for the 1st and it is posted. We are 2/3 filled.

I would love to get it started. Anyone who knows somebody please suggest they check it out.

Very user friendly to someone new to tournaments and lots of competition for experienced players.

The All-Star Skills Competition sign-ups and Fan Event will probably start either tomorrow or Wednesday - we have not been able to give the event as much time as we expected to these past few weeks, and will need another day or so to polish up the final details.
We apologize for the delay, and thank you for you patience.

TPA5 All-Star Skills Competition Rules

Post by sempaispellcheck »

Here are the rules and objectives for the 5 events of this competition, as well as details concerning the prizes that are at stake, and the scoreboard.
Your objective is to pass a stack from one end of the map to the other in the fewest possible rounds by strategic use of unlimited reinforcements.
The stack must be moved from a West Coast territory (Reno, Sacramento, Fresno, or LA) to a Midwestern territory (Chicago, St. Louis, Pocahontas or Little Rock) or vice versa.
All 4 team members must be involved in the movement of the stack.
It is entirely possible that both teams may accomplish this goal in a single game.
After each game, each team will receive a number of points determined by the following formula:
Score = S + (2 x T) + ((10 x O) - R), where S is the size of the stack at the end of the game, T is the number of territories the stack passed through, O is the number of games in which the objective was achieved, and R is the number of rounds needed to pass the stack across the board.
Teams that fail to accomplish their objective will receive a score of 0.
These points will then be divided evenly amongst the four team members.
The player with the most points after all players have played 3 games will be declared the winner.

Since this event involves bot games, you will have to create your games yourself.
You are to create 3 bot games.
The games should be on the Classic map with the following settings:
 • Escalating Spoils
 • Chained Reinforcements
 • NO Fog of War
 • 20 Round Limit
Each game is to involve only you and the following 6 bots:
 • whamBot
 • Creeper
 • RollingHavoc
 • SassboT
 • Major Scrapmetal
 • Slashbot
You must then send me the game numbers for your 3 games. If you do not, I will use Game Finder to find them - and I will take the first 3 you played.

You will receive 1 point for each sweep, 0 points for a win without a sweep, and -1 point for a loss. Number of rounds and number of troops remaining will be used as tiebreakers. Tiebreakers will first be applied exclusively to sweeps, then to wins without sweeps, and finally to losses.

You will receive 1 point for achieving your in-game objective as specified by your starting position and 0 points for not achieving your objective. Number of rounds and number of troops remaining will be used as tiebreakers.

The criteria for victory here is the sum total of the following 3 numbers:
 • The size of your largest stack,
 • The number of troops you would be due, and
 • The number of troops you would receive by means of autodeploys.
This is to challenge you to try to find the right balance between building a stack and using the unique bonus structure of the City Mogul map to maximize your deployments and autodeploy bonuses - remembering also that you will have unlimited reinforcements. This is also intended to prevent stalemates where each player simply deploys on a single territory and ends their turn.
The player with the highest cumulative troop count after all players have played 3 games will be declared the winner.

Your objective is to eliminate your target in the fewest rounds possible. You will have 3 chances to accomplish this objective, and will receive 1 point each time you do so. If you eliminate someone else's target, you will lose 1 point. Number of rounds and number of troops remaining will be used as tiebreakers.
The player with the most points after all players have played 3 games will be declared the winner.

The top scorers in each event in each tier* will be awarded General Achievement Medals!!
The overall winners of each event will also each receive 500 Conquer Credits!!

Now, you will not only be competing for these fabulous prizes, but you will also be competing to earn points for the TPA5 tournaments you are participating in!!
Overall event winners earn 20 points for each TPA5 tournament they are playing in.
The top scorers in the other 2 tiers* in each event each earn 15 points for each TPA5 tournament they are playing in.
For all other players, the number of points earned for their tournaments is determined by the following formula:
P = 15 x ((n + 1 - p)/n), where n is the number of players in that player's tier* and p is the player's place in that tier.

So, for a player finishing 6th out of 10 in his tier:
P = 15 x (10 + 1 - 6)/10)
P = 15 x (5/10)
P = 15 x (1/2)
P = 7.5
(P will always be rounded to 2 decimal places)

That player would earn 7.5 points for each TPA5 tournament he is playing in.

The tournament with the most points once all events have completed will receive an additional General Achievement medal for the TO to award as he sees fit (Note: the criteria for this additional GA is still subject to TD approval).

*Players in the "Standard+" and "Standard-" tiers are treated as being in the "Standard" tier for prize and tournament point purposes.
Re: The Tournament Players Association - Year 5

In case anyone is interested in the format of the Main All-Star Event (and also as a reminder for me):

The main event of All-Star month will be a 19-game tournament, with each game having been inspired by one of the TPA5 tournaments.
Games will go out in 6 batches - 5 batches of 3 games and 1 batch of 4 games - and will be sent out in the order of posting of the tourneys they were inspired by.
For tourneys that use multiple maps, settings, and/or scoring systems, the map, settings, and/or scoring systems for the relevant game have been randomly selected from among those used in the tourney.
For tourneys where players specify home maps and settings, Random map will be used, and settings have been randomly chosen.
For tourneys that do not use any kind of scoring system, I have come up with a scoring system that I think is appropriate.
The maps, settings, and scoring for the games will be as follows:

Batch 1:
Six Cities Tourney - 6 players, Assassin, San Francisco, automatic, sequential, escalating, parachute, fog, no trench, 20 round limit.
3 points for winning, -3 for an incorrect assassination, -3 for being killed.

Jack of All Trades - 2 players, Poly 3, Madness, automatic, sequential, escalating, adjacent, fog, trench, 20 round limit.
1 point per win.

Escape from the Islands - 4 players, Standard, Celtic Nations, automatic, sequential, escalating, chained, fog, no trench, 20 round limit.
4 points for 1st place, 3 for 2nd, 2 for 3rd, 1 for 4th.

Batch 2:
MC's Your Kidding Me...Right? #7 - 8 players, Quadruples, Random, automatic, sequential, flat rate, chained, fog, no trench, 20 round limit.
1 point for being on the winning team, 1 point for eliminating an opposing player.

10 x 10 = 100 Years - 10 players*, Standard, Canada, automatic, sequential, escalating, chained, fog, no trench, 30 round limit.
10 points for 1st place, 9 for 2nd, 8 for 3rd,...2 for 9th, 1 for 10th.

Classic Cities Conundrum - 3 players, Standard, Classic Cities: Jakarta, automatic, sequential, escalating, chained, no fog, no trench, 20 round limit.
4 points for 1st place, 2 for 2nd, 1 for 3rd.

Batch 3:
Grab Your Win! I - 12 players, Terminator, Random, automatic, sequential, escalating, chained, fog, no trench, 20 round limit.
1 point per kill, 1 extra point for winning the game.

F1 - 8 players, Terminator, Far East, automatic, sequential, escalating, chained, fog, no trench, no round limit.
8 points for 1st place, 7 for 2nd, 6 for 3rd,...2 for 7th, 1 for 8th.

Master of AOR - 2 players, Standard, Age of Realms 1: Might, automatic, sequential, nuclear, adjacent, fog, no trench, 20 round limit.
1 point per win.

Batch 4:
MC's Random Dubs - 4 players, Doubles, Random, automatic, sequential, no spoils, chained, fog, no trench, 30 round limit.
1 point per win.

States of the Union - 2 players, Standard, USA New England, automatic, sequential, escalating, chained, no fog, no trench, 30 round limit.
1 point per win.

Angola Loves Classic V - 8 players, Standard, Classic, automatic, sequential, escalating, chained, no fog, no trench, 30 round limit.
12 points for 1st place, 7 for 2nd, 6 for 3rd,...2 for 7th, 1 for 8th.

Batch 5:
Mad in USA Play With Your Settings II - 5 players, Standard, Random, automatic, sequential, zombie, chained, fog, no trench, 30 round limit.
10 points for 1st place, 5 for 2nd, 2 for 3rd, 1 for 4th, 0 for 5th, plus 1.5 points per elimination.

Federation Internationale de Ski - 2 players, Standard, England, automatic, sequential, escalating, adjacent, fog, trench, 20 round limit.
NOTE: Each player will play 2 games with these settings - each player will be red once and green once.
For Red player: 0 points for loss, (20-x) for win - where x = round number (ex. win in 8 rounds, earn 12 points)
For Green player: 0 points for loss, 16 points for winning in 4 rounds or less, 12 points for winning in 5-8 rounds, 8 points for winning in 9-12 rounds, 4 points for winning in 13-16 rounds, 0 points for winning in 17-20 rounds.

USA Map Pack dubs/poly - 2 players, Poly 2, USA Southeast, automatic, sequential, escalating, chained, fog, no trench, 20 round limit.
1 point per win.

Batch 6:
Cracking Nuts with sempai!! - 8 players, Terminator, Christmas, automatic, sequential, escalating, chained, fog, no trench, 30 round limit.
1 point for winning, 1 for most kills, 1 for most CC points earned through kills (in case of ties, each tied player will receive 1 point).

MC's Christmas Quads - 8 players, Quadruples, Christmas, automatic, sequential, no spoils, chained, fog, no trench, 20 round limit.
1 point per win.

IPL 2015 Triples - 6 players, Triples, Random, automatic, sequential, no spoils, chained, no fog, trench, 20 round limit.
2 points per win.

*For games where the number of players per game is not a divisor of 48, players will be randomly chosen as needed to play extra games for which they will not earn points. These players will be referred to as "placeholders." No player will play more than one extra game, no game will have more than one placeholder, and no one will play a second extra game until everyone else has played one.

The player with the most points once all games have ended will be declared the winner of the Main Event, and will receive a General Achievement Medal and A FULL YEAR OF PREMIUM!! (the latter possibly in the form of credits)

I don't imagine too many people will be surprised to hear that the Casual Speed Competition is the first of the Skills Competitions to finish. (Yes, the Sweeping Competition involves bot games, which are over quickly, but the players have to create their own games, and some people need to be reminded)

Congratulations to Gawddog, of the Junior tier, who won 2 out of 3 games in a total of 4 rounds (2 rounds per game) to win the Casual Speed Competition!!
Congratulations also to magneto_acolyte, who won 2 out of 3 games in a total of 5 rounds (one game in 1 round and the other in 4 rounds) to take top spot in the Standard tier!!
Each player will receive a General Achievement medal for winning their respective tier, and Gawddog will also receive 500 Conquer Credits for winning the overall event!!

Updates on the other events will be provided as they finish.
