but how are you supposed to get on that nifty monthly scoreboard?!! and what is the punishment for this? a ban? just wondering... i thought you received a ban for pt dumping... the black jesus is perplexed...-Jésus noirking achilles wrote:This is point dumping and this is still not allowed.

I'm (currently) on that nifty monthly scoreboard and did not cheat in any way. Not that I think Army of GOD is intending to attempt a run at the monthly leadership in the near future. Plus I think you need to start the month with at least 800 points. He's dumped a few too many!owenshooter wrote:but how are you supposed to get on that nifty monthly scoreboard?!!
It bothers me that he was fixing games.thegreekdog wrote:Any way you can get him banned from playing games without banning him from the forums? Seems like some judgment is in order. Does the community care that Army of GOD is point dumping (as a cook)? Does the community (that interacts on the forums) care whether Army of GOD is point dumping?

For me, it's largely because we're facing a time of declining membership. The new(ish) owners are trying to make the site more appealing. Why have this behavior potentially turn new members away? I don't know that that has actually happened in any of the games he was dumping points or deadbeating, but preventing it from potentially happening in the future is not a bad thing.thegreekdog wrote:Why?

I don't like that he's cheating people. I don't think that your argument in favour of his regular cheating holds up to basic criticism.thegreekdog wrote:I asked you first.Symmetry wrote:Why doesn't it bother you?thegreekdog wrote:Why?Symmetry wrote:It bothers me that he was fixing games.thegreekdog wrote:Any way you can get him banned from playing games without banning him from the forums? It doesn't bother me because he's a cook and he's not "point dropping" that many points.
It's like 60% never take a turn and 30% in addition to that don't finish a game IIRC.thegreekdog wrote:Why does point dumping turn new members away?Butters1919 wrote:For me, it's largely because we're facing a time of declining membership. I have been under the impression that the problem with point dumping is that the people getting the points are achieving rankings in a seemingly unfair way. To put it another way, the only players who care about point dumping are high ranked players who are competing against other high rank players where the latter are winning games against players who are losing on purpose.
I mean, we can all pretend that new users will be turned off by the site if their first games are against a guy who deadbeats, if that's what we need to do to make sure the seventh ranked CC member stays at seven.
This is probably neither here nort there, but I wonder how many new users deadbeat from their first games?
