Like?

He was signed by Arsenal, and he'd play the pre-season games and score a ton of goals and before the season started Wenger would send him on loan to another club.

He has only had 2 contracts in his professional career, Arsenal and Real Sociedad. After he finally settled in Real Sociedad (loan), when he was finally happy at one place he started to show his skills. Then Arsenal wanted him back and he told them to f*ck off and signed for Real Sociedad.

If he was consistently good enough one of the other many loan sides would have signed him and he'd be playing for a top club at the moment. I remember watching him and Dos Santos playing in the under 17 world cup years back, both were supposed to turn into great players and both have delivered only on a sporadic basis.

Have watched a few Real Sociedad games this season and he is playing well though... can't doubt that.

They couldnt afford him. I believe Real Sociedad paid the biggest transfer in its history for Vela. And they did because the fans loved him and because they know they will sell him from more. He's only about 24 years old.

In that sub17 championship many people saw Giovani Dos Santos as the star but I noticed Vela righht away.

Giovani was doing things good until he got injured. I also believe he's been distracted in his career. He can be better but he's certainly no Carlos Vela.

Another excellent mexican player is Porto's Hector Herrera. He'll soon be in a more competitive league.

I thought Vela was better as well tbh, that was the last 17 tournament I really at the time to get into. Mexico were excellent... pity about the national team not progressing.

24? No way, he has to be 26/27. Google - 25, will be 26 in a couple of months. Can't see him or Dos Santos advancing their careers any further now. Dos Santos didn't care about playing though, only drinking and getting laid. Dude looks world class when he's on form and wants to play.

Too bad about vela s injury.

Meanwhile in france, Marseille is still in the fight to win the league.
Lyon 48
Marseille 47
Paris 47

Lyon plays tonight so they could get 4 points advance... But they play monaco in monaco and lacazette is injured! Pretty sure they won t win this time.

Lyon 0-0 Monaco.

Paris has had a bad year yet it's only 2 points behind.

If I had to guess, and I don't follow the Ligue 1 I'd say Paris ends 1st.

Carlos Vela out for 2 months. He should be good for the summer competitions with Mexico.

Well I got my 9 ticket plan. I can't wait to see REAL CRAPPY FOOTBALL!

(NEW YORK CITY FOOTBALL CLUB)

(Well, if American's are playing, it's got to be CRAP, right? But we play other Americans, so it's ALL GOOD.)

Now I can get to complaining about the real thing I hate about Football.

It's the intermissions. You don't have enough time to get to the concession stands and get food before the game resumes.

That and the fact that people stand all the time. I don't mind but the way they design the field in Yankee Stadium you can get really affordable seats in the part of the stadium where the seats are plush and comfy.

I didn't get those seats this year, but the ones just above those.

Well next week end is lyon vs paris, so if paris wins and marseille doesn't, or if paris wins by a bigger goal difference than marseille they ll be first. All 3 teams are just in 2 points on the top so it s pretty exciting. Paris being in 4 competitions still while marseille and lyon only have the league left evens things up though.
But honestly, i think that paris will most likely win again. They are kind of like the lazy intelligent student that will do his homework for the mid terms but that didn t touch a book during the semester.
Monaco is back in business, they are now 4th tied with Saint Etienne both with 40pts (so a bit far from the top 3 though). When Falcao left to go to man U monaco was... Last!!!! So that s a pretty good comeback.

Wow the african cup of nations final was pretty intense! Ivory coast is the champion after beating ghana!
This basically went to penalty shots; ghana makes its 2 first shots, ivory coast misses its first 2 shots! It seemed completely impossible to make the come back.. Yet ivory coast's keeper saves the 2 following ghanean shots; 3-3 after the first 5 shots. then they both scored all their attempts until it was the keeper's turns! The ivorian keeper saves the ghanean keeper's shot, then scores his attempt and ivory coast wins the title! Epic! This guy becomes the nation's hero.

In Spain, 4-0 for the Atletico against the real!
And barcelona beats the athletic 5-2!

So in spain:
Real madrid 54
Barcelona 53
Atletico 50

Game on!

In France, lyon-psg ended 1-1, while marseille ties 1-1 in Rennes too. So nothing changes:
Lyon 49
Marseille 48
Paris 48

I watched the last bit of the lyon-psg game and they said Lyon had now 50 points, odd.

What's the name of the Ivory coast keeper?

Shit you re right!
Lyon has 50 and is 2 points ahead of paris and marseille... Crap.

The keeper is Copa Barry (not sure of the spelling) he was the second goalie but he somehow got to play in the final because the other guy got suspended or injured, not sure. This guy is probably the happiest man in the world tonight. I didn t mention, but during the penalty kicks he was having "agujetas" (what s the word in english? Can t remember) and he rolled on the ground a few times in pain. Don t know if that was bluff or not... The funniest thing was when he stopped the other keeper s shot and he stays on the ground as if he was badly injured... And you know he had to take the winning shot.
Anyways, go check those penalty kicks on youtube if they re on, it was really epic.

His interview at the end of the game was awesome. He says "i m really not the tallest nor the greatest keeper, that s for sure, but I m so happy of what we just achieved"
Then he goes "I want to dedicate this to my mummy (he is crying like a baby while saying it) because she was so sad to see me playing as a substitute, and I don't like to make my mummy sad because she loves me so much!"

And the first goal in NYCFC history is scored by...David Villa!!
Must say, the team looks very good so far. Yeah, it's preseason, but still.
I'm so excited for the start of the season.

it's pretty dumb that the only NY franchise with some kind of history, the cosmos, is in second division with no possibility of becoming bigger through good results... while NY is currently represented by an energy drink and a manchester city subsidiary that will always be considered as a minor interest by their investors.

Wow I must be getting old. Seriously, a team founded in 2010 that got into the second division in 2013 has a "history?"

The team that plays in a university stadium?

I suspect that once it gets its own stadium near Bellmont park it will probably take off. Until then they might just as well be the Islanders.

yeah i'm talking about the team that had Pelé and Beckenbauer that was totally dominating the US league in the 70s. looks like you lack a bit of football culture tzor.... They freakin still sell jerzeys in europe, dream on to find a NYCFC or NYRB jerzey in any shop around here. And as far as I know, you got some university stadiums of over 100 000 seats in the US (michigan state, stanford...) Also, when I was a student in San José State university, the earthquakes were playing in our stadium.

Anyways, back to high stakes football.... Very nice match tonight betwin Paris and Chelsea.... but very unfair result, 1-1. Paris played much better, they shot 14 times on goal while chelsea only twice... their keeper was just on fire. It's going to be hard to overcome this in stamford bridge.
