why im unsatisfied with Canadian democracy, law and politics

sponsorship scandal, ya that was pretty dumb to waste 250 million dollars, but then in order to investigate the stupid thing, we spent 250 million into the judicial system, and after officially being "convicted" we spent 300 million dollars on an election to resolve the problem only to elect mr. secret agenda, bush-ass licking stephen harper who won no seats in the 3 large cities, setting up a minority govt that will inevitably collapse within the near future, is it just me or is canada not gettin anything done?

hate to say it but it serves Canada right after all the years of making fun of the American system. You'll notice I'm in Montreal, so I'm not super pro-American. I just thought it seemed funny.

Heh, I'd rather have ANYONE leading Canada then the Liberals. They're bad. For everyone! They're the ones who made the lake Meech agreement fail. Good job! Now Quebec is still not in the canadian constitution. And then they wonder why we want to leave... such stupid people.

I think it's a shame what was done concerning the developement of the Avro Arrow. Canada lost out BIG TIME on that one! Lots of ultra-talented personnel left Canada to head south and boost the United States aviation industry.

For some reason, Canadian are letting themselves getting screwed over a lot. Heh it all started with the first prime minister. Huge scandal with the train companies. But then he got reelected. We have an expression in quebec for how we're acting. It is: "se laisser manger la laine sur le dos". I have no idea how to translate that (don't take it literaly, getting the whool eaten of your back doesn't make much sense).

1. It was "pretty dumb" because the money was supposed to fight the separatists, but ended up strengthening them. Only Liberals (the party) can be that stupid, and only Canadians will support such a party (Actually, Canadian Liberals remind me of American Republicans. Dumb, blind followers with no sense of independent though).

2. The judicial system is part of something called due process. The Liberals could have saved us a lot of money by coming clean, but you never thought of that right?

3. Elections are part of democracy. If you don't like the money we spend on it, go live somewhere else.

I traditionally vote NDP and my current MP is from that party. Having said that, I find myself actually impressed with Harper's government. I really don't agree with most of what they do (or don't do) but at least they're doing exactly what they said they would. I'm amazed at how quickly they got down to business and how fast they implemented their changes and are still implementing those changes. It's refreshing to have a government that lives up to its promises - too bad it had to be the bloody conservatives!

as u can see i live in the USA but im a canadian citizen. I think the problem with the canadian gov. is that they keep on listening to the fucking republicans in the USA gov. They keep on saying "send troops to Iraq for the war against terrerism" but really they r just saying " send troops to iraq to commit suicide"

Yes, that's pretty bad, but actually a bigger scandal is the gun registry which the Liberals said would cost 2 million, but ended up costing over 2 billion and yet still didn't accomplish the task it was intended to.

I was just reading about that today in the National Post. Canada has become even more attractive to business & investment thanks to the new corporate tax cuts which the Conservatives just implemented.
