No, it's teh overal pattern that matters, as far as I unnerstand the msgs from the mods. I unnstand that, if I fail to mispel at a certain level, I will be punished, perhaps even modkilled. Ireely hope their turns out to be apoint to it, becorse it has def dimished my enjoymint of dis game.

BTW, I was around wen you were posting yer reads I tink. It came akross to me like someone doing a quik read-through, then posting the sirst ting that came to mind, without a lot of thort. Aladdin - Mtam plays by reads alone mostly so he can get away with that. He is a very good player and is normally more involved than this but appears to have internet issues. He'll step up more when the game slows down I suspect/hope.

We have for people who are claiming knowledge of others' alinements: ptlowe, benga, IB, and MM. We need to know how much we can trust these claims, which means knowing the alinement AND the sanity of those making the claims. Hear are my thorts on each:

PTLOWE:

Well I can vet Stor's claim on being town because I investigated him last night. BTW since let's kill mafia and win and people are saying its a good idea. I am town cop. Let the claiming begin.

PTLowe's alignment and sanity are untested. His claim about Storr conflicts with dat of MM, but I tink we shood discount MM's claims altogether. If Storr somehow dies and flips Town, then there are a few possibilities:

Good reed by sane cop;
Good or bad reed by naive cop;
Not a cop at all, and aware of it (fakeclaim, would be very scummy);
Believes he is a cop, but is delusional (is that diffrent to "insane cop"?)
Busdriver activity.

Our confidence in PTLowe would increase a bit.

On the other hand, if Storr flips anti-Town, possibilities:

Bad reed by insane cop;
Bad reed by paranoid cop;
Busdriver activity;
Not a cop at all, and aware of it (fakeclaim, would be very scummy);
Believes he is a cop, but is delusional (is that diffrent to "insane cop"?)

Our confidence in PTLOwe wood dekrease.

With Storr still alive it is also possible Storr is Mafia godfather, so PTLowe could be Town sane and getting a bad reed becorse of this.

At the moment, only Storr's death will shed lite on PTLowe. He has explicitly asked four proteckshun, and this mite be his motive in claiming cop.

Whatsausage came back to me as anti-town

Benga's alinement and sanity are also untested as yet. He has a conflicting read on whatsausage to IBs "magic 8 borl".
At the moment. whatsausage's death is all that wood serve to verify Benga's alinement and sanity. Suppose whatsausage dies and flips Town. Possibilities:

Bad read by insane cop;
Bad read by paranoid cop;
Busdriver activity;
Benga not a cop at all (fakeclaim, would be very scummy)
Benga delusional, thinks he is a cop, but isn't.

Also, our confidence in Benga wood decrease if whatsausage flips Town.

IB's alinement and sanity have been tested slitely - his claims about HS were not contradicted by HS's death, but we still do not know if that deth saved a lot of Town lives, as IB claimed. I say we should have some degree of confidence in him. HOWEVER:

The sanity of the magic 8 borl, assuming it exists, is untested. IB claims (I thinK) that the mods have confirmed it is reliable, but do we have enuff confidence yet in IB to believe him on this?

I'll go thru the possibilities another time, I'm pooped.

Aladdin is for town, Storr is not , I KNOW! That is all I am saying

I tink, given Mitch's psoting history in this game, we should just ignore his claim about me and Storr, since he seems to have abandoned his claim to be Deputy.


Bottom, line, the presence of insanity means we are going to have to build up confidence in our investigators slowly. We shood linch based on what will give us the most info, at dis stage.

Rite now, that means linching whatsausage (shed some lite on Benga and IB / magic 8-borl), and Storr (shed some lite on PTLOWE). Seems like Mitch is gonna die anyway, and his death shood prove interesing two.

Mite be a good idea if sumwun checks the possibilities I listed; I'm tiured and cood easily have made mistakes. But I think the basic aproach is sound. We have to gard against thinking we no more than we ackshually do. I want to linch scum as much as anyone, but we need to find the best way forward, and that means getting the most info from each linching we can, and that means linching whatsausage and Storr.

About this, I have a quesiton for @slash: why do you think that decreasing the vote threshold is a townish movement? mafia plays as a group, whereas town play disorganized, so by reducing the threshold to lynch is easier for mafia to get town lynched. Do you really think it is the other way around? can you elaborate?

Basically some lynch is typically better than no-lynch.

The short and sweet of it is that every deadbeat in a no-forced lynch game is effectively a barrier for scum against lynches.
Say there's a 12 player game with a 3 person mafia. It takes 7 to lynch.
If there are so many as 3 town deadbeats it is impossible to lynch mafia so long as they stick together even with 100% town consensus, and for every active townie that the mafia offs that threshold gets lower and lower.

Sure as you say it's easier for mafia to control the lynch, but that's still potentially the difference between no chance vs slim-chance for town.

One would naturally expect a rather large deadbeat ratio for this game on night zero, even one that would have prevented a lynch from the get go. After all it's a prize game, one of the largest in quite some time, has newbies, few replacements, recruited during winter break, etc.

QFT. The whole point of the threat of modkill is to make people participate. And while I don't post extremely much relatively, I do keep up until i find a post that I feel like I can respond to adequately. I was worried this would happen in a game this large though.
