Edit this please, think you meant die.mrswdk wrote:Who are the people responsible for implementing suggestions, if they get taken forward?
Seems like Suggestions threads fill up with all sorts of people commenting, but almost never get input from anyone who can actually do anything to action them.
Is Suggestions just a place where ideas go to do, or is there someone, somewhere who actually reviews them?

Not any more. The current head of the Suggestions Team has not logged in for 7 months, and nobody is willing to step up and fill his shoes, so for all practical purposes the position is vacant and there has been no formal review of the suggestions in at least 7 months.mrswdk wrote:Who are the people responsible for implementing suggestions, if they get taken forward?

i think wdk just volunteered!!! good luck!!!-BjDukasaur wrote:The tl;dr answer: No, at present nobody is reviewing the suggestions, and that isn't likely to change until some strong and well-organized personality steps forward and volunteers to take on the very thankless job of Suggs Team Leader.

The guideline is that you have to have the salesmanship to make the boss care about your suggestion. Previous experience selling vacuum cleaners for a living is definitely an asset.mrswdk wrote:Sure, all over that, I don't care if some pointy head gets mad at me 'cause I booted their idea. What's the guideline on passing your own suggestion?

yeah, i don't understand why this isn't common knowledge...-BjKeefie wrote:I thought Owen made all the decisions on suggestions, that's if he's not to busy sorting out C&A cases.

I used to have a job selling vaccuum cleaners - but I quit before I ever sold any.Dukasaur wrote:The guideline is that you have to have the salesmanship to make the boss care about your suggestion. Your last post prior to this was March 17th, so if you've been here, you've been pretty low-key...JamesKer1 wrote:Did you just assume my activity?Dukasaur wrote:Not any more. I understand the sentiment, but if you've grown weary of the task, you should at least try to recruit an apprentice to take over the business.JamesKer1 wrote:I've been around every few weeks or so, just to check in and see if there's anything I'd like to return full time for.
But as for now, I've grown weary of tracking mud through the bosses house to sell him all those vacuums he doesn't have the time or desire to use
I used to sell lawnmowers, and was once invited to be a mod for suggestions. Now I mostly just mention it as an anecdote. Owen goes a bit weird when I talk about it though, so all I'll add is that I'm a leading candidate.Dukasaur wrote:The guideline is that you have to have the salesmanship to make the boss care about your suggestion. I think the key is what the site wants to be. It needs a mission statement and a basic plan as to how to move toward it.BrutalBob wrote:mrswdk wrote:Sounds futile.
I think this is the main issue. Why would you want to waste your time volunteering for a "for profit site" when there is no hope anything will get done.
There are lots of great suggestions there. I dont even bother posting or reading there any more. As you say- its futile.

how much time are you really willing to commit, when you have only played 73 games since '07? some of us actually PLAY games and PAY for memberships to contribute to the continuation of the site (your current one was gifted and has not been utilized)... your rate of commitment (to the site, not institutions), is about the same as the Suggestions Forum... *cough*... the black jesus has cracked wise...-Jésus noirSymmetry wrote:I think the key is what the site wants to be. Plenty of players and posters here are willing to devote time, but to what end?

I've got no idea what the aim of the owner is. If I had to guess, I suspect it's pretty laissez-faire.riskllama wrote:pretty sure bigworms mission statement is to extract as much $$$ from this place as he can with the least amount of effort from his end before this place crashes and burns, sym. that's my take, but what do you think?
Perhaps your post should tell you something. Playing games isn't the be all an end all of the site. Community, and that means something bigger than just playing, is important too. Dismissing people as irrelevant based on their number of games seems like a short sighted attempt to bolster an increasingly irrelevant hierarchy whereby new ideas can be dismissed.owenshooter wrote:how much time are you really willing to commit, when you have only played 73 games since '07? some of us actually PLAY games and PAY for memberships to contribute to the continuation of the site (your current one was gifted and has not been utilized)... your rate of commitment (to the site, not institutions), is about the same as the Suggestions Forum... *cough*... the black jesus has cracked wise...-Jésus noirSymmetry wrote:I think the key is what the site wants to be. "go play some games, Symm!!"
If you posted this 5 years ago, I'd agree. But now? Seriously? If you're still here and not playing games, what are you here for? This closet bare forum community that hates itself? Why cling to a sinking ship [insert useless youtube clip of the titanic sinking]?Symmetry wrote:

In doing so, Owen, you often come across as if you need to portray ideas that you disagree with in terms of cartoons and big red letters.
In asking the question, you've answered it. As you've pointed out, I have an attachment to the site. I'd like to see it be better. I like it, and would like it to go on, improve, and be open.Butters1919 wrote:If you posted this 5 years ago, I'd agree. But now? Seriously? I would love to here an answer for this myself.Butters1919 wrote:If you posted this 5 years ago, I'd agree. But now? Seriously? If you're still here and not playing games, what are you here for?
