It's not a question of which is better, but a question of ignoring the bad or even thinking the other bad is "good" because it is "other."

Out of these people, a significant number are completely ignorant. Female genital mutilation is one great case in point. One tends to falsely equate it with male circumcision, when it's more like getting the procedure Lorena Bobbitt did to her husband.

I mean YOU DID IT TOO! You started out with a unnecessary mastectomy. That's even less than circumcision, especially with modern procedures that can also include breast reconstruction at the same time so that it's not even obvious to the casual observer that the procedure was done unless she goes topless.

I can't state how much I am opposed to female genital mutilation on children. But when you have people who are trying to convince themselves that sex changing drugs and operations on children should be a good thing, it's not much of a stretch. If you want to chop it off boy, chopping it off a girl doesn't seem to be as bad (but BOTH ARE VERY VERY BAD).
