How about we change the monthly medals to include only games that are started & finished within the month to qualify?

Oh

And exclude battle royal games

I'm sure it would go some way to making it more difficult for those that wish to abuse the intention of the medal/scoreboard, though Doc's suggestion should be more effective.

This wouldn't work at all. Players would just do the same thing you did. In Dec, you finished up your losing games, but slow played the winners so they would finish in Jan. Players that want to manipulate the standings, would play winning games fast and slow play losers.
