Creating a game where you are not a player

Post by Yynatago »

Original Question:
How do i create a game where i am not one of the players? I tried doing this by filling out all the invites but one of the invites was overridden by replacing me as the player. Do i need special privilege like a tournament coordinator?

Solution:
The best way to do this is to have the privileges to do so. For this reason I'm thinking of converting what I'm doing into a public tournament. In the meantime, I've discovered a satisfactory method of hosting a game I'm not a part of.

What I do is create a private game with a password and invite most of the players, including myself. I need to be in the game initially do these invites. However, as soon as one person accept the invitation, I can now drop from the game yet keep the other invitations in place. Then all I need to do is PM the final player to join that game by providing the link and password. Presto!

1. Create game and invite most players
2. Wait for someone to accept
3. Drop from Game
4. Ask final player to join
5. Presto!

Yes. I'm pretty sure you need "privileges", and only get those to run a tournament or clan event.
On of the people intending to play in your proposed game is going to have to create game and invite people.

We had the same issue last year with an inter-clan tourney.

Our solution was to start the games as a "Campaign" with a password.

Worked well, but a bit more admin involved.

Ask PaulinPieces, that man knows his way around an invite.

Thanks Razorvich for introducing me to campaigns. Not the right fit for what I'm after but will keep it in mind in the future :)

I've figured out a way to invite people to a game I don't want to be in. You'll need to be a part of that game initially, but as soon as another player joins, you can drop the game safely. If you drop the game before another player joins, then the whole game disappears, so you got to wait and check in regularly.

I've updated the initial post with the details.
