New profile stat - length of turn time

Postby mrswdk on Thu Jun 01, 2017 5:15 am

Concise description:
  • As well as % of turns taken, a new measure of average turn length

Specifics/Details:
  • Players get a stat showing how long they usually take to take a turn (excluding missed turns)
  • For example, someone who takes 100 turns after 23 hours and 100 turns after 1 hour would have an average turn taken speed of 12 hours

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • Helps identify stupid ass slow players who take almost 24 hours to take their turns during casual games, so that people who like to play faster can avoid them

You have 12 games total, why not just pick people who have as little as you.

So I'm supposed to go through the list of games, look at who's in each of them, and then search all of those players' active games?

24 hour games are 24 hour games. There shouldn't be any pejorative placed on players who can only play once a day.

Yes, I'm sure there are a few players who deliberately extend their turn length for no reason but sheer cussedness, but those players will doubtlessly develop a bad reputation through word-of-mouth.

mrs, if you want to play fast casual (AKA pseudo-speed) games, try cultivating relationships with other player who share your... predilections.

It's not a pejorative. It's a statement of fact.

The site already displays this, thru turn %. Example: 99% of the time, player A plays his turn within the allotted time.

This stat wouldn't matter anyway bcuz the more speeders you play the lower you're avg time would show which is misleading

You seem confused about what an 'average' is. Then again you went to a British school, so it's understandable.

I should have specified that this stat is casual game-specific.

The operative word being casual. Is this because I took my time in your sweet, slow 3-0 beating?

24 hour turns are 24 hours... However this does bring up another reason why players who convert to Freemium should not be thrown out of tournaments... Does everyone see the obvious cheap tactic involved, or must I spell it out?

Maybe some people only play once in their 24hrs, as they're allowed.

And maybe some people would like to avoid those Slowpokes.

I can see the C&A complaints now already, in the future.

*site implements this*
Player A wall says his average time is 6 hours
Player B joins his games to get fast games
Player A plays within 24 hours but all 20+
Player B files C&A complaining Player A is intentionally slowly playing their game because it's much higher than their average time

Just no. You get 24 hours, that's all that matters. As Caff said you wanna avoid that go w speed games

Speed games you have to sit at your computer playing constantly, and they can easily take well over half an hour of your time. Playing someone casually who is also fairly quick means you can dip in and out, pick up turns 4-5 times throughout the day.

You can join an unlimited amount of games. Find 1v1s, join 1v1s. You'll find they're often played quickly, especially with freemiums.

Just because Tweedle Dumb and Tweedle Dick shit on everything I say doesn't make this a troll suggestion.

This is a bad suggestion because it gives freemium players a way to game the system and play more games without paying the site. If it were to be implemented as a premium addition it would benefit most of us very little.

How would this feature enable a freemium player to play more games?

It would encourage them to seek out players who take faster turns causing disparities for players that turns within the allotted turn time.

Oh no, you are right CC would crumble if freemiums were able to play games slightly faster than usual.

That's just like freemiums playing RT, it's not a big deal.
