So you dont think 243 tourneys across every single map is a pretty good way to decide ?iAmCaffeine wrote:not reallyClanlord Carl wrote:honestly claim to be the best ever CC singles player.
you could argue from current players, not best ever. but even then i wouldn't agree.Clanlord Carl wrote:So you dont think 243 tourneys across every single map is a pretty good way to decide ?iAmCaffeine wrote:not reallyClanlord Carl wrote:honestly claim to be the best ever CC singles player.

I'm guessing if i pointed at the sky and said 'Blue' you wouldn't agree cos of a tiny wisp of cloud on the horizon. Of course i'm sure there are players who are very good who have stopped playing. Lets not forget the 7.8 billion who have never played CC a few of whom might be amazing if they only tried. This is the definitive test of 1v1 tourney skill the huge number of games ironing out luck.iAmCaffeine wrote:you could argue from current players, not best ever. but even then i wouldn't agree.Clanlord Carl wrote:So you dont think 243 tourneys across every single map is a pretty good way to decide ?iAmCaffeine wrote:not reallyClanlord Carl wrote:honestly claim to be the best ever CC singles player.
And nowhere have you justified your opinion that this isnt the ultimate test of 1v1 skill. Is boring to discuss something if the other never bothers to give a reason.iAmCaffeine wrote:about 70% of what you just wrote was worthless
I agree 100% while you can never definitively prove x is better than y at z you can certainly show you are one of the best if not the best by being consistently good. This tourney is a fantastic way to show that. Based on the exact current scoreboard at time of writing i'd draw my line at the top 13 (wink) being the 'top' 1v1 players. Joking aside i personally rate Josko as currently the most consistently formidable 1v1 player based my experience in the last couple of years across a wide range of maps but not by much and certainly there are some specialists on some maps who do far better in their practised area. Kaskavel and hive come to mind for example.shoop76 wrote:Clearly 1 of the better tests to see who is the best. But, I think if you look at some of the bigger 1v1 tournaments there a few players that are always near the top of the leaderboard. Don´t think there is a lot separating the top 10 or 15 players. I think there are also a lot of high ranked players that never or rarely play 1v1 that would also do very well in 1v1.
Never talked to IAmCaff before, eh? Who needs logic or reasoning when you can just talk!Clanlord Carl wrote:

So how do you decide if someone is 'better' ? Again you state opinions without giving reasons or evidence.iAmCaffeine wrote:just looked at the scoreboard for the first time ever. i'm a respectable #15. looking higher, there are 3 maybe 4 players i'd say are actually better than me. i dont mean specifically 1v1 but overall. is clanlord carl the best 1v1 player on the site? no. is he top 10? maybe, i don't care. looking at the rest of the top 50 there are definitely people i'd say are, in general, better players than me such as rockfist and urban jedi.
I thought about that too. If i was fanatical I'd wait to pick an iteration that seemed to have no strong opposition to max my score. I expect the majority just join regardless of other signups so it is random.jfm10 wrote:If there are 10 iterations for each map then you are only playing 15 of the 160 players for each map.As long as the iteration you join doesnt have the players you don't think you'll lose against then you will do well but would you be considered the best then ? Just saying as I am in the top 50 currently but in my opinion I am not even close to being that good.Extremely lucky at times absolutely.
You clearly forgot me in the listiAmCaffeine wrote:just looked at the scoreboard for the first time ever. i'm a respectable #15. looking higher, there are 3 maybe 4 players i'd say are actually better than me. i dont mean specifically 1v1 but overall. is clanlord carl the best 1v1 player on the site? no. is he top 10? maybe, i don't care. looking at the rest of the top 50 there are definitely people i'd say are, in general, better players than me such as rockfist and urban jedi.

urban jedi is a legend around these parts, put some respect on his nameClanlord Carl wrote:So how do you decide if someone is 'better' ? I'm simply saying that such a vast number of matches will iron out random factors.
Lets look at the evidence.....
IamCaffeine our head to head 1v1 all time score is 9-4 nice but not quite enough to show if either of us is 'better' now if the score was 90-40 or 900-400 then yes i'd claim bragging rights if i was so inclined. For my amusement i then checked your head to head v your 'better' player Rockfist and to my surprise discovered you were 11 to 8 up in 1v1 while you beat UrbanJedi 1-0 how are they better than you ? I suppose it is possible they had awful luck but fought like demons with what they had.
As another aside my head to head v Rockfist is a very close 10v9 in 1v1 games.
I think you need evidence to support opinions.
This tourney will supply that in spades.

As a player holding a ridiculous 5-2 victory margin over myself in singles i bow to your wisdom. Blimey only played t4mcr53s2 once in singles. Back in 2014 champion 1-0.Donelladan wrote:t4mcr53s2 is the official CC 1vs1 champion.
End of discussion.

Thanks Kizkiz im battling out the Ireland final now a thrilling last game 2-2 zombie games and cant put him down. Is why i play CCkizkiz wrote:It's definitely good fun
I've played Carl in two rounds. Ireland and ccu.
Ireland he started first and had amazing dice. I was basically done before taking a turn.
Ccu I was well beaten.
Does that make him better? Maybe, but I'd want some more even fights first.
The scoreboard also doesn't tell the full story
I've got a semi and two finals starting shortly, so I've dropped down as no points coming in. Expect to be jumping back up again soon
