American police kill again

Post by bigtoughralf »

Do you guys take any precautions when you're around police? Is it like the advice people give to women for online dating - don't meet them alone, tell other people where you are, stay somewhere where other people are around etc

Or do you just assume police violence is a black thing and so you don't have to worry about it

Just wondering how it actually feels to live under America's security apparatus

You're an idiot.

It feels far better than being a complete waste of skin. You know...like you feel every day.

There are more than 800,000 sworn law enforcement officers now serving in the United States.

Shall we perform some statistical analysis?

MrSwdke / Saxi misrepresent facts 100% of the time.

Done.

Anger against racist police violence swells in the UK after killing of Chris Kaba
1,833 people have died in police custody or following police contact in the UK since 1990. The recent killing of Chris Kaba has led to renewed calls for justice as Black people continue to be disproportionately targeted by police violence

The father of modern policing

1829 London. Sir Robert Peel, widely regarded as the father of modern policing, was heavily influenced by the social and legal philosophy of Jeremy Bentham, who called for a strong and centralised, but politically neutral, police force for the maintenance of social order, for the protection of people from crime and to act as a visible deterrent to urban crime and disorder. Peel decided to standardise the police force as an official paid profession, to organise it in a civilian fashion, and to make it answerable to the public.

Due to public fears concerning the deployment of the military in domestic matters, Peel organised the force along civilian lines, rather than paramilitary. To appear neutral, the uniform was deliberately manufactured in blue, rather than red which was then a military colour, along with the officers being armed only with a wooden truncheon and a rattle to signal the need for assistance. Along with this, police ranks did not include military titles, with the exception of Sergeant.

To distance the new police force from the initial public view of it as a new tool of government repression, Peel publicised the so-called Peelian principles, which set down basic guidelines for ethical policing:

1. Whether the police are effective is not measured on the number of arrests but on the deterrence of crime.

2. Above all else, an effective authority figure knows trust and accountability are paramount.

Hence, Peel's most often quoted principle that "The police are the public and the public are the police."

It’s a two year period that “survey” uses.

Maybe if UK was honest with their reporting we’d get a better assessment.

You’re basically saying that 1800+ people killed by police in UK is meaningless because we (in the US) kill more.
OK.

I don’t think those people families would agree, but that’s a fine position for you to take.

A lot of people get to ignore it. You're asking them what they do about a danger they don't even know exists - they don't do anything. It's just like the american war machine. As long as they watch american tv and movies, they get to play pretend democracy and don't think about where their taxes go.

Says the guy from Canada living under American protection.

If the USA didn’t exist you’d be part of Russia by now.

Just the fact that you…
1) Live in Canada
2) Can afford* to come here and play enough to attain the rank you have

These two facts likely put you in the top 25% of “wealthy people”* on the globe.

*Afford, not in terms of premium member… afford in terms of having free time and access to the internet

*Wealth as measure by standard of living and not only actual money in the bank.

Get a clue.

BTW… you’re welcome.
I’m happy my tax dollars are protecting your wealth from China and Russia.
