“On Tuesday of this week, Mr. Weiss advised me that in his judgment, his investigation had reached a stage at which he should continue his work as a special counsel, and he asked to be so appointed,” Garland said in a statement to the press on Friday.
“Upon considering his request, as well as the extraordinary circumstances relating to this matter, I have concluded that it is in the public interest to appoint him as special counsel.”

An attorney from Delaware, Weiss has been overseeing the Department of Justice's (DOJ) probe into Hunter Biden since it was launched in 2018 after being appointed to his position a year prior by former President Donald Trump. In June, Weiss—who was retained by the Biden administration—charged the president's son with failure to pay federal income taxes and illegally possessing a firearm.

Desperation Hail Mary by Biden crony Garland. This will serve to insulate Weiss from being subpoenaed by Congress in their own investigation. Weiss was just weeks away from testifying. The fix is in.

Former prosecutor Andrew McCarthy is saying the
appointment of the same federal prosecutor who nixed the Hunter Biden probe is a "sham" designed to get Weiss to write a final report exonerating The Big Guy.
Tristan Leavitt just said "this is a strategy to forestall congressional investigations."
The whole purpose an SC is to placate public distrust. This desperation move by partisan bitch boy Garland has failed.

Attorneys for President Joe Biden and the special counsel appointed to investigate his handling of classified documents have been negotiating for about a month over the terms under which he would be interviewed, two people familiar with the matter said.
Discussions between Biden’s lawyers and special counsel Robert Hur’s office are focused on how, when and where the interview might take place, as well as the scope of the questions, these people said. They stressed that the negotiations are ongoing and that no agreement has been reached.

You heard it hear folks, Saxi fact checked me and everything was true! Republicans DEMANDED the guy they now think can't do the job... They literally signed their names to it. Me thinks if any prosecutor assigned doesn't ask for the death penalty for Hunter, republicans will claim they have been bamboozled.

I think that Mookie and I agree on the main points here. Let the investigation begin.
Perhaps both Biden and Trump will step aside soon and allow others to run for POTUS in Nov. 2024. Not likely, but one can hope for that.

Yeah, I'm so hoping for a choice between a left-wing neocon who will start a war or two and a right-wing neocon who will start a war or two.

Biden isn't a left-wing neocon?
